JOKER (2019)

Comments

Hey guys just wanted to lyk this isn’t in the right collections category!! Also Joker isn’t in same canon as DCEU or The Batman movies just wanted to make sure you figured that out! Loved this reaction (:

Anthony Jackson

Late but joker and the batman are not connected to each other or to any other movies, they are both standalone things

Large Big79

this was Amazing

Anthony Hempstead

Usually when I watch things I'm multi tasking. Usually playing video games. It takes a very special movie or show to get me to allocate all of my attention to it. This movie did that. I've never felt so tense and uncomfortable during a movie. The scene where he kills his coworker, the one in the studio and the scene where you learn he's planning to kill himself on TV all had me curled up and tense.

Reverend Jim Jones

This is why we NEED Leon the Professional

Vonnie Stewart

i love this movie!! great reaction

Agnes

City Lights is amazing. If ever there is a reaction to The Gold Rush, make sure to search for "The Gold Rush 1925" on Amazon since it uses Chaplin's original orchestral score (instead of the generic piano score used on other versions)

JM63

It's fine if you don't care for them but to deny others the hope of them reacting, hardly seems fair.

Josh B.

Hi Trin, Hi Rob! You guys should react to Charlie Chaplin’s City Lights. A legitimately amazing and moving movie. Chaplin writes, directs, acts, and composed the great score (that I have on Amazon music)! Cheers

Ben

Banksy; The Movie🖌

Taryn Clay

I have 2 opinions that I’m sure will get me attacked here: 1) I really hope you don’t do reactions to the DC movies 2) I liked this movie more the first time I saw it when it was called Taxi Driver.

Simon Williams

I was so happy to finally see you guys watch this! Quanin Phoenix is brilliant, and not just in this film. He has had si many! I hope you can check some of other stuff too. And if you haven't watched the trailer to Joker,I highly recommend it. I know, you typically do that prior to the movie. But I can't stress enough how they perfectly put it together. The trailer itself is a work of art. Thanks Rob and Trin....for all that you do.

Cyndi McCoy

Yes, they have already seen it

Nadine 🇨🇭

I am more Marvel fan than DC, but I was interested in Batman vs Superman. The Museum/party scene was filmed across the street from my office. I could see the set from my window. Alas, the scene was filmed at night and I just couldn't force myself to work past 5pm just to see it. One of my co-workers was selected as an extra. She was so excited.

Cindy

Have you watched the dark knight trilogy yet?

THE LAST GREAT

Definitely worth watching "I Walk the Line" with JP playing Johnny Cash! Yes, you can feel the love in this movie. The director (who actually did The Hangover movies lol) & JP worked very closely to create this world & study mental illness. The laughing condition, pseudobulbar affect (PBA), is real & JP watched a lot of videos on it. Everything from the score, cinematography, acting, is beautiful. It's one of the most realistic portrayals of the struggle of mental illness/society I've experienced. I always feel personally violated by this movie, but in the best way. I adore it.

Lmao typical Rob 😂

I always liked the idea of the Joker having no ironclad, truly "canon" origin story. Like the way it was portrayed in The Dark Knight. It's almost like he was some force of nature that just came out of nowhere. A lot of people even speculated that the events of this movie may not have even "happened". And that in the ending scene at Arkham it was all just him coming up with another one of his own fake origin stories in his head and laughing about it. But since this movie is getting a sequel, who knows. I know this is really neither here or there, but on the assumption that the events of the movie did actually happen, I do think that Thomas Wayne was Arthur's father. All the pieces were in place and seemed to fit that Penny's claim that Thomas used his money and power to cover it all up was just out of delusion. Except for that quick shot of the photo of her at the end. "Love your smile. T.W." That just doesn't seem like something that an employer in his position would write casually. So I think it was as dark as it was suggested. That while yes, she was delusional and not all there when we saw her, Thomas Wayne did use his influence to fabricate the adoption papers in order cover up his dalliance with Penny. Arthur was just a discarded inconvenience. It would also of course add yet another layer in the complexity of his relationship and connection to Batman.

RabidSloth

Its not a comic book accurate origin story but I really like what they did with it. 💜

Alyssa Dyson

I'm still shocked that this movie is actually getting a sequel. But I'm so there for it.

RabidSloth

Joker isn't terrible, but it's basically an inferior mashup of Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver (1976) and The King of Comedy (1982), both starring Robert DeNiro (that's why he was a guest star in this). I highly recommend watching either or both of these films. The visual artistry and soundtrack of Taxi Driver in particular is stunning (and it's well-paced, it isn't slow like some arthouse movies).

JM63

Yeah, this, at least it wasnt on release, no idea now, isnt part of some wider universe like the MCU films are, this is a standalone movie, only has DC because of the intellectual property, it wouldnt be this good otherwise lol. Incredible film and performance.... DC universe is a trainwreck.

PhoenixReturns

Tough watch? It’s a comfort movie to me Watched it so many times by now

Han

I agree with every sentence of this comment lol. I might be in the minority on this one, but I actually didn't really care for The Batman, and found it to be kind of "Meh". If its sequel is good then I might go back and add it to my collection though. I might also be in the minority on this one too, but I actually really liked "Batfleck" XD. Probably in part to him being inspired by the older, grittier, Frank Miller version of Batman. Edit: There is some pretty stark contrast between the two Batmans. Since IIRC the one in The Batman was based on the (obviously) younger "Year 2" kind of Batman.

RabidSloth

I just started the reaction and I had to pause it to come here and make this comment about you having not seen Man of Steel lol! I know the Snyder films were divisive but personally I loved them. I would be so happy if you ever did a reaction series with them. But I have to stress and request, with every fiber of my being, that if you do, R&T, please react to Zack Snyder's Justice League (aka "The Snyder Cut") and not the theatrical version of Justice League. I really try to be a "To each their own" kind of a person, and not just trash things that other people might like and have preferences for. But, no. The theatrical version was an abomination XD Man of Steel BvS: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition) [optional] Suicide Squad (2016, Extended Cut) Wonder Woman Zack Snyder's Justice League Aquaman I enjoyed, but unfortunately it follows the timeline of the Theatrical version of Justice League, so there's some slight discrepancy there, but it is only minor and I still enjoyed the movie. It's really a shame that they flubbed the DCEU so hard. If they had handled it right from the beginning then it could have been really great. I also love Henry Cavill, Rob. If you like him too then I think you'd be doing both him and yourself a disservice by passing on it all lol! =)

RabidSloth

The Batman and Joker are not canon or apart of the same universe or the reboot universe, they are called Elseworld stories where they are in an alternate timeline or in the multiverse, and Joker doesn't really have a backstory as he likes to keep it multiple choice as if he doesn't even remember himself, I really wish you guys would react to the DCEU I think you would like them a lot don't listen to the haters judge them for yourselves, I love the MCU but it died after Endgame to me and Guardians 3 and Spider-Man 3 were the only good ones to me since then.

Josh B.

Joaquin Phoenix did get the Oscar for best actor for this movie.

Adam Belfort

This is an amazing film but it's a tough watch, such a powerful performance by Phoenix!

Michael

so excited to watch this later today :))))

SamT
