IT Chapter 2 (2019)

Comments

Bill Skarsgard will be back for the Welcome to Derry series. Because of the writers stike the series was delayed should be ready for 2025.

You seemed to be a little confused about why Stephen King (the guy that sold Bill the bike) called Billy, William. Bill, or Billy is a nickname of William.

Anika

The director Rob mistook for King was actually the director Peter Bogdanovich.

Well since nobody mentions it I will: Stephen King wasn't the old guy you thought could be him (the movie director I think), but he was in the movie 😆 He was the guy who sold Bill his old bike. And the bad endings are a running joke about him since a lot of people told him his books were great but the endings were always bad 😂

For films you do sequels for maybe you could have a notebook with a few notes of important things to remember but as always love your reactions you guys!

Such a good sequel loved it the first time I watched it

About Ben’s poem to Bev.. In the first film, we see Ben writing the card and poem to Beverly. Then he kisses and wakes Beverly up after she is tranced because of the deadlights. In this film, Bev says she kind of remembers a sense of the boy who wrote the poem, and she remembers a kiss. I think she refers to Ben’s kiss which brought her back, but she doesn’t realize it yet. She thinks it's Bill at first. While Bev and Bill sort of have a thing for each other, I feel she has a much more pure love and relationship with Ben. So, I am glad that she ends up with Ben at the end. And at the beginning of the film, we see that Bill is also married to the actress he's working with. Bill's wife only has one scene, but in fact, she has a much bigger role in the story in the book and the 1990 mini-series. The ritual of Chud and the background of Pennywise being an extra-terrestrial creature is also much more detailed in the book. As a hardcore fan of the book, I really wanted to see all the other details that are left out in these two chapters, but then they would have to make a third one because the book is more than a thousand pages long. As you can see, I can talk about IT all day long. (I could do this all day LOL) Okay, one last thing. There’s a new series coming up in 2024 titled “Welcome to Derry”. It will be set in the 1960s I think, and it will be based on the past of Derry/Pennywise before the events of the first film. Unfortunately, Bill Skarsgard won’t be reprising his role as Pennywise. I don’t know if we’ll see IT in the clown form, but I’m sure how they portray Pennywise and the series itself will be pretty good because the director of the movies is also involved in the production.

I really love everything related to IT: the book, the mini-series, the movies, and especially your reactions. :) Even though it's labelled as "horror", I think it’s such a heartfelt story of a group of kids. Their coming of age, the bullies they face (who are far more scarier than Pennywise itself), their lives as adults, etc. everything is so well described. Then there’s the cast. All the kids are really talented. You guys already mentioned young Richie and Bill. Young Stanley played Starlord as a child in Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Young Eddie went on to star in the Shazam movies and Beverly in the Dungeons & Dragons movie. And the adult actors they chose for each kid is amazing. They released some cast photos with the kids and adults together before the movie came out (and also the kids recreating some of the same poses as the adults). The resemblance was uncanny. I can totally see each kid growing up to look like their counterpart in the second movie. They did a really wonderful job on casting. They used some of the same actors from the first movie, too. Eddie’s wife was played by the actress that played his mom. One of the bullies beating Adrian at the beginning of the film was played by the same person who played Betty Ripsom in the first movie. One of the guys in the meeting with Ben at the beginning when Mike calls him is the guy who played young Ben in the 1990 series. The director of the movie had a cameo in the film. He was standing back during the pharmacy scene when Eddie was talking to the creepy pharmacist. Stephen King had a scene, too. He was the guy at the second-hand store (the one where Bill bought back his bike, Silver). And the ongoing joke throughout the film that Bill wrote terrible endings was actually about Stephen King himself. LOL Because most of his books are very captivating, but some of his endings are really disappointing.

This one was genuinely terrifying I don’t usually get too scared watching horror movies but oh my god the scares were real.

IDC about the haters, I fucking love this movie 👏🏻

Jack's World

Someone else will likely mention it but the actress who played Eddie's wife is the SAME actress who played his mother in the first movie, not just a resemblance .. and she's STILL as over-protective. Probably an in-joke that he calls her mom too. They actually de-aged a couple of the kids, I know they had to do it with Finn Wolfhard for sure. "The Watcher...From Loki" tsk tsk Rob lol Beverley hid in the bathroom from her dad and then smacked him in the head with the lid from the toilet cistern, then spun round and IT was standing behind her, it's when she was abducted. No idea if that did actually kill him though, I don't think they tell you. Surprised you both didn't give the original another watch or just a quick catch-up skim. You didn't recognise the second-hand shop proprietor? Stephen King?

PsYcHoKiLLa

Omg I'm so excited for this one. Can't wait to see your reactions. Opening it now.
