FIRST TIME WATCHING Chronicle (2012) REACTION

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but Dane Dehaan, the actor for Andrew, is actually close to that Jack Nicholson look, Rob lol he's nearing 40 years old. Definitely not a kid anymore!

Unfortunately, the sequel is and isn't happening. You gotta remember this film came out in 2012, so a sequel was supposed to happen a while ago, but they rejected Max Landis' script for whatever reason. It's been over a decade, and he's moved on by now. Now, for whatever reason, the studio decided to use their brains and greenlight a sequel (likely because of the boom of the superhero genre) but Landis is no longer attached or involved, so the story as it was actually meant to continue is not gonna happen. They brought in someone else to do something completely different. So, technically a sequel, but without the passion or vision of this movie.

I enjoy a good 'found footage' movie. I don't think this one is as spectacular as hyped, but it was better than average. One thing's for sure... you could really tell that Michael B. Jordan was going places. The energy of the film rose when he was on-screen. I really liked the guy playing Matt as well. Didn't care one wit for the guy playing Andrew. But definitely agree that at times he looked a bit like a young Leonardo DiCaprio. It's hard for me to fully classify this as 'found footage' though. For me, found footage is the only remaining record of a weirdness where all involved are now dead or missing (meaning dead). So if it's clear in the footage that one of the group is still alive and seen purposely leaving the camera to film themselves going off... then it doesn't entirely fit for me because I know Matt's alive and chose to leave the camera. But I don't know what else you'd call it. Does anyone know... Is the sequel actually happening?

Found Footage movies are some of my favorites some are really unique

Luke Morrison

As a geniune lover of all things found footage, good and bad - I couldn't believe I haven't seen this! Good reviews online and all, jumping in now, see you in a couiple hours!

Zebraa

Great to watch again. You like Dane Dehaan, try this sci fi. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)

kimburley

Amazing reaction as always

Goldcrusty

This was a first time watch and it was fun. I agree that Dane is a very good actor. I haven't seen him in a lot but I did just see him in Oppenheimer

Maggie Barbour

This has just become my favorite movie of all time, it’s such a cool concept and it’s done perfectly. Them flying in the clouds and messing with people in the store are 100% things people would try with those kinds of abilities

James

Hold those cameras tight! No matter what happens, even if you are about to die from a fall, hold the camera tight! You need to document your last minutes. πŸ‘

Count Monte-Cristo

This movie is honestly one of my favorite underrated movies of all time

Korben

As a fan of Everything Sith...Andrew would be a perfect Sith Apprentece, even better than that Pathetic Anakin Skywalker!

Anthony Ancona

I was all set to watch this but can't watch movies which are filmed like Blair Witch with hand-held cameras I get bad motion sickness from them

Kim Magee

Wow haven't seen this in years. Good watch but it creeps me out that this is probably what would happen If average teens did get super powers.

Amanda Logsdon

That was definitely an entertaining watch. I've never seen this movie but it definitely felt like an indictment of the American healthcare system lol Which I 100 percent agree with because it's insane. Also, the creativity of the different filming styles? That was really cool! Some other movies have played around with different camera styles but this was way more of an amalgamation of a bunch of different styles. Edit: Oh shit! You guys were talking about how the main actor could be a big player. And I looked him up on IMDb and he is indeed in something pretty major that came out recently! I won't say much because I don't want to spoil it in case you react to it. But maybe he's going to make his big Leo break soon!

Landon DuVall

Good stuff! Not sure if it was recommended already elsewhere but another great film w/ Dane DeHaan is 'The Place Beyond the Pines' also starring Ryan Gosling & Bradley Cooper.

Justus

This is such a niche film but it’s so good it’s not surprising you reacted to this it’s so worth it
