FIRST TIME WATCHING The Princess Bride (1987)

Comments

I LOVE this movie! It's in my top 10! My first taste of Mandy Patinkin and I've loved him ever since! Especially in this and Homeland with Claire Danes.

Carrie Smith

I loved your guys reaction to this movie. One of my favorite movies of all time. Definitely my desert island movie! So happy to have shared this experience with you guys :)

Steve Morehouse

I watched this MANY times as a child, on VHS, and I LOVE when people don't take it too seriously because then they don't like it. Perfect reaction! ~ American Mum πŸ’š

Michele H.

Have been looking forward to this...

Basic

That quote is probably the most memorable for me since I still use it, probably, on a weekly basis. So many instances where it applies, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means," which is the perfect answer to Vizzini repeatedly saying, "INCONCEIVABLE!"

Thadman

After watching this... you 2 have to watch Robin Hood Men in Tights.

adam99x

This is probably my favorite comfort movie ever. It's just so wholesome. You're right. The cheesiness is intentional. It doesn't take itself seriously. And yes it is endlessly quotable. "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." The sets and effects were practical and cheap. Most of the backgrounds were obviously paintings, but it's still so adorable after so long. So many great 80's actors and a few (Robin Wright and Cary Elwes) went on to have great careers. Andre the Giant as others have said was a wrestler, but did such a wonderful job here. He said in interviews that he loved doing this film so much because as big as he was he always got stared at or treated not so nicely. But everyone on set just treated him like a normal human being. Anytime I'm sick or it's one of those dreary weather days I'm stuck indoors, I can put this movie on to instantly cheer me up. And watching people discover it for the first time is so fun! Glad you both enjoyed it!

I haven’t movie in around 25 years , I remember liking it as a kid and saw it a few times, but honestly I’m disappointed in the rewatch :/ For me a LOT of things didn’t hold up really well . Kinda the opposite of Breakfast club lol. Saw it about 20 years ago and didn’t resonate with it even if I was the same age as the characters , but with recent rewatch with you guys I really really loved it I guess you win some you lose some haha

Gabriel

Just finished, and re: the humor Rob mentioned, I totally agree. I didn't appreciate how funny it really is when I was younger, and as I got older I developed more and more appreciation for it as I understood things better and matured. It's so good! Glad you guys loved it, too!

Ryan Skinner

And genius to include early in the script how the grandad would have it read to him, and how it's a story kind of passed down through generations, and we as the audience are old enough now since the movie released to have done the same.

GoodDocGonzo

One of my absolute all-time favorite movies! I grew up with this one, and still to this day at age 40, I adore it every time I watch it. So glad you guys elected to watch it; about to get it started! Thanks R&T!

Ryan Skinner

Only suggesting it for the Princess Bride parody, they don't even need to react to it. More just suggesting they watch.

J Scott Page

Mmm it’s just basically the clean version and nothing really different about it.

G.C

It has adventure, romance, scares, humor, dramatic moments and so many more elements to it that it makes it so much more impressive that they pulled all of it off.

Simon Williams

I’ve been loving these 80’s reactions. It’s been years since I watched this and I agree with Trin, it is a total comfort movie. Everything about it is so enjoyable and fun. The fact it works as a movie that both kids and adults can enjoy speaks a lot to the films quality I think.

Simon Williams

Now that you've seen this, you should watch Once Upon a Deadpool.

J Scott Page

This was an actual book, the writer adapted it for the screen and did a fabulous job. A bit of a silly dodgy frame story to the novel, not as good as the grandfather/grandson bit, but if you liked the tale there's much more of it, including Inigo and Fezzik's youth, more fun narrative and more adventures, I highly recommend if you want a good read.

JD Nevesytrof

I finally got it to work! Had to download it, and then play it at 1.4 speed. Lol I'm really glad you guys enjoyed that movie. I was very much. Fred Savage as a kid, when my mom brought home the VHS tape because I was at home sick, and told me I should watch it. I moaned and groaned because she said it was a fairy tale, and I wasn't interested. And it instantly became one of my favorite movies of all time. I have to have seen it over a hundred times at this point. I'm really glad you guys got to watch and enjoy it.

cartoonrobot

I went back to watch Stranger Things with you guys. I am now on Season 4, episode 3. I had planned to catch up on TWD and Pirates of the Caribbean after I finished season 3. However, The Princess Bride cannot wait...Stranger Things can! Lol ... one of my favorite movies!

I missed the links. Thank you for filling me in. I tried my DVD and Disney Plus. I didn't try Amazon.

cartoonrobot

We watched it on Amazon Prime, you can use the links under the vid which has the video included ofc <3

Am I the only one having trouble getting this to sync? It's like Rob and Trin's video runs faster and keeps getting ahead.

cartoonrobot

I hadn't seen this movie before either, I kept expecting him to burst into the Men in Tights song!

Cele B

Rob, That wasn't the Hulk at the beginning, Lou Ferrigno played the 80's Hulk, this movie has Andre the Giant playing "a giant", he was a WWF (at the time) wrestler. The guy in the dungeon was Mel Smith of Not the Nine O'Clock News. It was Smith & Jones too, with his pal from NTNON Griff Rhys Jones.

PsYcHoKiLLa

Inigo was Mandy Patinkin (Homeland, Criminal Minds). Six-finger man was Christopher Guest (Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman, This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, For Your Consideration).

Craig Rairdin

As much I know, they had already seen GoT when they started this channel.

Count Monte-Cristo

Oh really! Lol So that means there aren’t GoT reactions, just HoD?

Julia Ashley

They have seen it. There should be House of Dragon reactions

Count Monte-Cristo

Sorry, not sure where to ask this but have you seen Game of Thrones? I was just thinking I haven't seen it on your channel (unless I completely missed it). Wondering if you have plans to react to the series.

Julia Ashley

One of my all time favorite movies! So glad yall reacted and loved it!

Rebeccaf87

I always wondered what young Diego de la Vega was up to in his early years. Now I've found it out... Great movie. Right after Sharknado for me

Count Monte-Cristo

Your reaction to the priest had me crying laughing. ❀️

Steven Schmaling

I'd recommend watching 'the cast of the Princess bride remember Andre' on YouTube, it's only short but it's very sweet and emotional. He was beloved by everyone

Michael

The actress who played Buttercup is Robin Wright and she played Jenny in Forrest Gump, also the French WWF/WWE wrestler Andre the Giant wasn't the hulk your thinking of Lou Ferrigno, also you haven't seen Men in Black so I hope you react to that fun trilogy at some point, fun smartly written movie was fun seeing your reaction to it and can't wait for the next reactions.

Josh B.

It's not the guy who plays the Hulk it's Andre the Giant, legendary professional Wrestler. He was a very interesting guy but his size led to him drinking heavily to medicate the pain he was in, he once famously drank 119 beers in one sitting πŸ˜… After this movie he wrestled Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania 3 in front of 93000(ish) people. Unfortunately he wrestled way past where his body could take it his final years he would just kinda hold the ropes and not do too much, passed away in 1993 and was the first inductee into the wrestling Hall of fame.

Michael

The silliest, swashbuckling, romantic & quotable movie ever made. "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father; prepare to die." My favorite part of the movie. My second favorite is when he & Wesley was fighting on the cliff. Glad you did this one. Missing this movie would have been "Inconceivable!" LOL!

angie808

BEST MOVIE EVER!! Great reaction!
