"You never really meant that much to me." In my opinion that was said purely to hurt Jimmy. In the same nature that he got Chuck's insurance cancelled, in a moment of revengefulness, Chuck decided to hurt him in the way he knew would be most effective. That is outweighed by the letter he wrote which was meant to be read only by Jimmy, and even though it was written in a time that Jimmy wasn't up to his antics yet, the letter doesn't refrain from mentioning Chuck's disapproval of his past actions, and instead focuses on all the good Jimmy was to his life in general. Chuck is a dick, but to say he actually meant what ended up to be his last words, just doesn't seem believable to me.

In case you're wondering why you might recognize the Hummel thief, it's Ira who owned Vamanos Pest Control in Breaking Bad.

Chuck & Jimmy's relationship is the most complicated brother relationship I've ever seen played out on tv. When you think you've figured out why you should take one side, you end up telling yourself "WAIT! But what about...?" and it's back & forth like that throughout. That's the brilliance of the writing. This happens in BB, as well, of course.

"How could Jimmy not react to Chuck's letter" ?? Answer: "You've never mattered all that much to me", that's how. Btw - Keep in mind that the letter is undated. I think this letter was written before all of Chuck's animosity came in, likely while Jimmy was still in the mail room. It's pretty much perfunctory, which fits very well with "You never really meant that much to me." As for the Courthouse given Kim's reactions to the models I have to think there is some information at the Courthouse which is not accessible through whatever legal database she has access to, westlaw, lexisnexis, etc., that has to do with the proposed locations that she wants to check. Kim is smart and the Mesa Verde loves her so it's odd they had time to create models and scout locations but not mention a massive expansion to her. Perhaps they didn't want to give her time to think about what they were doing so sprang it on her.
