Those "Strong" jabs from Aemond were intense...and you just knew it was coming too. Yeah, that Aemond dude is so cool and menacing. The looks between him and Daemon, it almost seems like they admire each other.

2023-02-13 04:12:52 +0000 UTCThe actor who plays Aemond is also known for his role in the series The Last Kingdom. Which is a show that you two would probably enjoy if you haven’t already seen it. It is either the second or third season when that actor shows up in The Last Kingdom. And his character is the total opposite of Aemond, but still a fan favorite. I have thought since the beginning of this series that Daemon really doesn’t want the throne. He would have been happiest if his brother had named him Hand of the King. He did see Viserys’ weakness as a king and wanted to protect him. Although it is just as likely that he would have caused more trouble than he prevented in the role of Hand. So that moment of him helping Viserys to get seated on the throne and placing the crown on his head was one of the most beautiful moments in this season. If Corlys’s brother Vaemond was truly most concerned about Velaryon blood continuing to rule his family’s house he would have been okay after Princess Rhaenys announced the betrothal of her granddaughters to Rhaenyra’s sons. Because that would have insured that Velaryon blood continued through those granddaughters. So this was much more about Vaemond’s personal ambition. He just did not want to admit it. Finally, one of the other most touching moments in this episode for me was when Lucerys danced with Helaena. Just think how much happier that girl probably would have been if Alicent had agreed to her marriage to Lucerys, rather than her horrible brother Aegon. It also would have bound the two sides of the family together. So many “what if’s” in this episode.

I posted pics on the discord with the relevant kings/queens from the Doom to Rhaenyra which Rob saw - tho not mentioned it since about ep 4 - but yeah super clever how they integrate the family tree in the intro, very clever way to do a similar thing to GoT but with a family through time instead of a map.
