Rick's emotional response to the loss of the other members of his group (the more side characters like Bob). It's like he legitimately lost family, even if they have just been around for 1 season.

In retrospect I feel like Maggie and Darryl were both kind of assuming that Beth was either dead or permanently lost. It was absolute chance that Darryl and Carol just happened to see one of the cars with the white crosses on them before the group left for Washington.

I do think she really thought that Beth was dead, but I wish they showed her being affected by it, at least a little bit, just a conversation with Glenn about Beth would have solved everything, instead she barely showed any emotion for it. And even after Daryl told her that Beth did made it out of the prison, she did not move a finger to try and find her, it was just out of character as Maggie is such a caring person.

Go back and listen to the beginning of 5x1 and you will hear Daryl telling Maggie about Beth.

Like Lucca said, also she had said earlier that she lost Beth in the prison, she thought Beth never made it out and that she was dead. That's what she basically said to Sasha and Bob

You are not overthinking that last scene. Everyone was asking the same questions and was trying to guess who Darryl was with.

Yes. it made me so upset that the writers never had Maggie even wonder out loud about Beth or leave messages. That was a terrible decision and didn't honor Beth's character and makes Maggie look like she didn't even care about Beth. I complained about that all through the episodes up to now. I also hated that Glenn and Maggie left the group. I especially didn't like Maggie leaving. Did she even ask Darryl about Beth?

My favorite call-back from this season is when Rick says to Gareth at Terminus when describing to him what was in the bag he hid, "...a machete with a red handle. That's what I'm going use to kill you." And that's what he used, "I already made you a promise!"
Daryl does not look happy to be back.

This is one of my favorites! Quite a rollercoaster. Bob's storyline was so unexpected to me, quite a shock to see him missing part of his leg and getting eaten alive, so scary! Just when I thought the Walking Dead could not surprise me anymore. Next you get the elation of watching Gareth getting tricked into getting trapped and violently killed with the red machete! All around great episode.

This episode has to be one of the greatest episodes in TWD history! It absolutely shows that no one messes with Rick’s family!
Andrew West aka Gareth said that he was never sure how long he would be on TWD but he was so thrilled. He also said that Bob’s leg delicious. It was actually roasted pork and he wants to go back to GA someday just to eat again.
Great reaction!! On to ep4!
