Rick's crew this ep lowkey the ultimate dream team in TWD history!their combat skills are chef's kiss, survival game stronger than Bear Grylls, and that squad synergy?Pure fire! If shane/Andrea/T-Dog were still alive, this group would be straight up unkillable characters.

I always thought it was ironic that when Rick told carol she couldn’t come to the prison he said something about if it was just them and his family, his children he wouldn’t have her with him. And she brought him back to his daughter and helped keep her safe

The watch: the watch Carol grabbed was Rick's. It's the watch he gave to that blonde kid when Carol/Rick went scavenging. Never got it back, because he disappeared

It's just so well made and it ties together so much. For right episodes nobody knew who else was alive or dead, etc. And now that they're all together again it's just a credit to brilliant writing, brilliant acting, and brilliant TV making that you now KNOW that this is NOT a show with one particular set or setting that gets reused over and over. These characters are a FAMILY who will shrink back from nothing in order to keep each other safe, and THAT is the show. We laugh, we cry, we scream - We are the Walking Dead.

This episode really ties up the end of the prison plot. All of the significant main characters - except Beth - are now together again, and the way this episode is made is such a beautiful conclusion to the separate journeys our disparate subgroups of heroes have been on. Everyone's journey is referenced - Herschel's/Glenn's watch is used by Maggie to make a weapon. Bob has his shining moment at the start and Sasha and Tyrese reunite. Carol's tragic journey regarding children is referenced subtly twice - when she walks by the table of stuffed animals and again when she tells Rick the fire's not out (Mika was the one who told her about the black smoke meaning a fire is still burning). Abraham Eugene and Rosita have their moments too.

I think the general idea with Eugene's plan, is to alter the pre-existing weaponized virus, so that it only targets the dead... which, if in a human host, would also prevent the reanimation, upon death.

What an opener. So much happened, but Carol going full Rambo and saving the day was just so damn good. BTW, that watch Carol spotted amongst the belonging s was the one Rick gave to the guy (the first to have his throat slit). There are so many layers to this show. I love it so much.

Something that always gets to me in this episode is pretty subtle. When Rick and Carl are reunited with Judith, there’s a quick shot of Michonne and Carol looking at them smiling. Something about the two women who lost their children watching Rick be reunited with his just absolutely wrecks me. I wish they got their happy ending too. Fantastic reaction as always!

You are correct, Sir. In the movie Alive, they were literally starving, with NO options whatsoever, and they waited until they were on the verge of dying before going that route. And, if I remember correctly, some of them (or maybe one) just couldn't do it.
Fantastic episode, right? Action & Emotion all in one episode. This was the episode that I was caught up with everyone watching. And it has such memories. I was literally screaming at the TV, when they got to Glenn at the trough.
I was loving Carol's progression thru the series, and it made me proud that her character was developing as it was, but THIS was the episode that I absolutely adored her. And she said no words upon the reunion, except "You have to come with me," to Rick. Love her.
