If you want to see more of Summer Glau, the actress who plays River in Firefly: I recommend the great TV show The Sarah Connor Chronicles starring her and Lena Headey, (Cersei Lannister in Game Of Thrones). It is a fairly short series about Sarah Connor from The Terminator story.

Simon breaking out River at the beginning of the movie, is not him breaking her out just before the tv show, but 8 or so months after the last episode (Objects in Space). At some point in those 8 months River is captured by the 2by2 men and the Alliance scientist we see at the beginning of the movie continues with the experiments they initially started. Simon, supported by the rest of Serenity (of screen), goes in and helps River to escape; he's the only one that can convincingly pull off Alliance mannerisms. Search "River Recaptured" on Youtube.

I have to admit that I expected something very different from what I've got, so I was slightly dissapointed during the first few episodes but in general I really liked it and I think that Serenity gave me the best closure possible in one movie. "Out of Gas", "Ariel" and "Objects in Space" were my favorite episodes by far - and of course the movie if that counts. Thanks a ton for reacting to and thereby finally making me watch this!

2022-05-22 17:47:37 +0000 UTCI agree about the characters all being "S" and you can't remove one without damaging everything. It is THE CREW. But I'll add one more. Serenity. The ship is another character that is perfect too. About the Operative at the end of the movie. Maybe the Operative will find a new path. Maybe he becomes a shepherd. He knows crime and fighting yet has seen the evils of the alliance and has seemed to have found a moral compass. Hmmmmmmm maybe Shepard Book was one.

2022-05-21 00:54:58 +0000 UTCJoining the crowd who'd like to see a Dr. Horrible's or a BSG reaction next (and you're right most reactors have issues with it and end up putting it only on patreon, but I'd def watch it here). I'd also recommend Marian Call's Firefly (and BSG) inspired album Got to Fly. The music is not really that similar to the music of the show, but the songs are about the show and kind of take you back into the 'verse imo.

2022-05-20 08:18:01 +0000 UTCI saw this in the movie theater when it came out... and the scene with Wash was just so heart-stopping shocking. There had to real stakes though. The odds were so against them that to lose no one, even with River, would be a little too pat. I wouldn't have chosen Wash though... I could survive without Jayne... but I guess that's the point... a loss you wouldn't expect. And I actually really liked the way they, having been soldiers, knew there was no time to mourn until they were either dead or done. Or it would've been for nothing. So good to get the origin story of the Reavers. Love this movie and miss these characters so much!
