Great comment kj and so interesting. I too have never noticed or even thought about that; but now that you said it; a little light bulb went on and now I can see that connection. They do have a kinship and an understanding of each other; and yes they are both sad and both searching for Lost loved ones. Thanks for this; I love discovering new threads and nuggets and ideas about this great show.

Of all my watches, I had never before thought of this til now... I believe they linked Sayid and Rousseau's characters simply because they're both so very sad. That's interesting, coz they're the two that really tug at my heart. Sayid's background, and Rousseau's losses on the island. So they understand one another. Hmm. :))

Cool, can't wait to see your reaction to this, this is a great episode. Love the look on Henry Gale's face at the end ! And it's always nice to see more of Sayid.

''It always feels like part 1 in LOST'' hahaha!!
LOVED the discussion at the beginning, thanks for answering! Wasn't expecting it so soon. Such a great cast, they almost all feel untouchable at this point. Definitely a good talking point for the end of seasons! Although I guess it's not quite Game Of Thrones when it comes to death counts!
Great reaction as always!! I forget Trin has seen it already!

"But you WOULD remember." Of this ep, Sayid's words hit me hardest. Knowing that's what really caused Shannon's death, fear of the others. He's livid at the possibility of facing one. And what those symbols are is a common thing to many. Their meaning an entirely different subject altogether.

I'll be honest from my own experiences, the extra ARG game stuff of finding clues in sites, reading the words of the showrunners in Q and As etc, I think affected a lot of the ultra fans perception of Lost's conclusion negatively as it seemed the extra canon stuff outside the show was kind of dreamed up to make the outside of the show stuff interesting by expanding the lore in ways that didn't necessarily make sense to the ultimate reveals in the show and seem to have just been made up to provide value to the ARG, and led people very much down the garden path that insinuated stuff about Lost lore that wasn't the case, and messed with people's expectations a lot. You're 100% better off just experiencing the show from start to finish, then hunting that stuff out afterward imo.
