In the accountants meeting, in fact, every form of bad luck that happened to other people actually benefited Hurley. Overinsurance on a fire meaning they actually made more money, settlement for the police arrest, etc. Same with Sam Toomey. So he expected to be fine on the rope bridge, and as expected it was Charlie that almost fell
