World Delivered to my Psycho-Ex

After being heartlessly dumped by Rhodes, Angie struggles to adjust to life without him. One day, Angie is able to light candles with just her thoughts, and this is just the beginning.

Even though she may not fully grasp it yet, the beautiful Angie Mclane is omnipotent.

And soon, the world is about to suffer the wrath of a scorned woman with limitless power.

++++

Rhodes, with his charming demeanor and well-groomed appearance - complete with dark curls, neatly shaved sideburns, and a crisp jawline - greeted a colleague with a nod as he made his way to a business meeting with two associates from another firm. Just as he was about to turn the corner and use the restroom for a quick leak, a hand reached out from the storage room and pulled him in by his collar.

As soon as he flew into the dimly lit storage room with its musty smell, Rhodes was met with Elena's beaming face, a stunning Spanish woman who worked as a human resources advisor in their company. They wasted no time in wrapping their arms around each other and engaging in a heated make-out session.

"Close the door," Elena said as she ran her fingers through Rhodes's curly hair.

"Why?" he asked, pushing her against the wall and grabbing onto her firm buttocks.

"I want you to fuck me." Her words were a hot whisper in his ear as she breathed them out, her fingers already working on the button of his pants.

"Right here, right now – on this desk filled with promotional materials." Her hand began shoving stuff aside, some of it clattering on the floor.

"I have a meeting in 5 minutes," he managed to say between their passionate kiss.

"One minute is your average, so I don't see a problem." She teased.

"Gone in 60 seconds, yet I still remain your man."

"Must be due to your genuine commitment to this company. Pants down. Now."

Rhodes let out a moan. "I so love it when you become all bossy."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone to check the time. "Fuck it. Let's do this."

With the eagerness of a high school virgin, knowing he was about to get the prize, he fumbled with Elena's trousers and underwear, pulling them down and lifting her up by her arms to place her on the desk.

"That's my boy," Elena said.

Rhodes' phone suddenly started ringing, a loud and irritating sound echoing through the small storage room. They both froze.

"Turn it off!" Elena hissed, checking the door if no one was coming in.

Rhodes quickly checked his phone and saw that it was Angie, his ex-girlfriend or, more accurately, his psycho ex.

"I'm sorry, I have to take this," Rhodes said.

"Don't you dare!" Elena hissed, but Rhodes had already answered the call.

"Sup, Angie, what can I do for you?" he said.

"I'm looking at them, Rhodes." The voice of Angie, Rhodes's ex-girlfriend, spoke through the speaker.

Rhodes furrowed his brow. "Looking at what, exactly?".

"Our pictures. All of them from the past five years. I've made a photo collage of them on the wall in the living room. You should see it. It took me all night to fabricate it."

Rhodes chuckled awkwardly, causing Elena to look at him curiously. "That's both sweet and... sick at the same time - but mostly sick. Anyway, is it all right if I swing by tomorrow to pick up my last items? My old laptop is still there, and I really need--"

"It's broken," Angie said.

"What is broken? You or my laptop?"

"Your laptop is. I, on the other hand, am perfectly fine." Angie said.

"How is it broken?"

"Rufus ate it. Or so he tried."

"Rufus? You mean Alfred's dog? How on earth does our… your neighbor's dog have access to my laptop?"

"Because I threw it out of the kitchen window yesterday morning."

"You did what?" Rhodes said.

Angie Mclane walked towards the couch in her living room, earplugs still in her ears and her phone stashed away in her snug jeans. As she made her way from the kitchen after getting a cup of tea, she couldn't help but catch a glimpse of the large collage on the wall featuring photos of her and Rhodes during special occasions like vacations, Christmas, and dinners at various restaurants they had visited together throughout their time together. Her pride eyes shone as she looked at the photo collage.

Angie fidgeted with her hair, pulling it back into a messy bun and leaving strands of auburn locks loose on the side. She flopped onto the couch and crossed her long legs.

"So, what time are you coming over tonight? The usual? I'm preparing your favorite dish – beef stroganoff with that delicious dijon mustard you're so crazy about."

"Angie, I already told you I'm not coming over tonight. You know that as well as I do," Rhodes replied wearily.

"Are you stuck working late again, dear?" Angie asked with genuine concern in her voice. "You can come over whenever you want. Remember we have a microwave here?" She chuckled.

"Angie, how many times do I have to tell you? We. Are. Not. A. Couple. Anymore. And please stop using those terms of endearment for me. It's just Rhodes for you now." he said.

Rhodes rolled his eyes as he heard Angie snickering on the other end of the phone. Elena grew impatient and wanted to leave the storage room. But Rhodes grabbed her arm and silently mouthed that the call would only take a second.

"You're making me sad, Rhodes. Why do you hate me so much?" Angie's voice trembled with emotion.

Rhodes gave a deep sigh. "I don't hate you, Angie. It's just… I think we had a great time together, I really do. But given everything that's happened, I think it's best for both of us to go our separate ways, you know, like normal adults do when they realize that the puzzle pieces just don't fit anymore."

"Can't we just fix them, though?" Angie asked. "You know, the puzzle pieces. Can't we make them fit again?"

"Impossible," Rhodes said.

"So you're saying I'm just some disfigured puzzle piece destined to end up in the junkyard?"

"That's not what I'm saying. Those are your own words."

"But it's what you're implying, isn't it?" Angie said.

Rhodes sighed. "Listen, Angie, I have to go, I have a meeting in like… 2 minutes and–"

At that moment, Elena had finally reached her breaking point and told Rhodes in a less-than-subtle tone that she had had enough and stormed out of the room, slamming the door closed.

"Who was that?" Angie's snapped, her honey-sweet voice making place for one that was about to go to war. "It was a woman, wasn't it? A young and attractive woman, I bet. Were you fucking her while calling with me?"

Rhodes let out a sigh. "It was just a coworker I was discussing work matters with when you called."

"Don't give me that crap! Give me the truth for once!"

"See, this is why I left you, Angie. Because of what you're doing right now!" Rhodes said. "You're the hottest woman I have ever laid eyes upon, you really are." "But I can't live with that kind of conduct."

Angie scoffed. "Conduct. Do you hear yourself speaking, trying to sound all sophisticated and stuff? Is that why they promoted you, because you finally learned to talk like a politician?"

"I have to go."

"Rhodes."

Rhodes was about to end the call, but his curiosity about what Angie might say next compelled him to listen. "What?" he replied.

"Do you remember that evening a few weeks ago whereby I showed you I could light a candle with sheer concentration?" Angie said.

Rhodes recalled that evening, it was the day before he decided to break up with her. Ironically, they had a surprisingly enjoyable night, as they spent it watching a movie and sipping on wine together.

Right before he wanted to call it a night, Angie anxiously insisted on showing him something. He didn't believe her when she claimed she could light a candle with sheer focus, but that's precisely what happened. Or at least, that's how it appeared to him. It was either that, or he was bravely fooled by some brilliant trick.

Angie's voice held excitement as she spoke. "I've mastered controlling multiple candles at once now. Turning them on and off just like that. I believe I can make the flames even bigger if I wanted to, but I don't want to risk setting the house ablaze." She chuckled before adding, "And you know what else?"

"No, what?" he said.

Her voice lowered to a whisper. "I can switch lights on and off with just my thoughts. I'm doing it right now with the lights in the living room. I believe this is just the beginning, Rhodes. I don't understand yet, but something is revealing itself to me. I can feel it."

"I'm happy for you, Angie. I have to go now."

"Sure thing, hon. Love you. I'll be waiting for you this evening." Angie said.

Rhodes rolled his eyes and hung up the phone, spurting to his meeting, which he was probably late for now. After that, he was going to make up with Elena to finally receive that fuck she had promised him.

Meanwhile, Angie rose from the couch and strolled to the kitchen. She leaned into one of the many photos of Rhodes on the collage wall and gave him a kiss on his face. Then, she busied herself with preparing dinner while listening to uplifting music. After finishing the laundry and some other household chores, she aimlessly scrolled through her phone for a while. As it got closer to Rhodes' expected arrival time for dinner, Angie set the table with candles, she lit up with her thoughts, and settled onto the couch, crossing her legs and bouncing her feet along to the music as she watched the clock, eagerly awaiting Rhodes' return home to join her for their meal.

As the clock chimed 8 o'clock, typically when Rhodes returned from work, Angie got up and poured herself a glass of wine. By 9 o'clock, she had nearly finished the entire bottle on her own and was starting to feel the strong effects of the alcohol as she stood up to use the bathroom to take a pee.

As the clock ticked closer to 11 o'clock, Angie's doubts grew about whether or not he would actually show up. He had promised, so why wouldn't he come?

She anxiously glanced at the clock while gripping her nearly empty second bottle of wine.

She hoped against hope that she would hear the door opening and see him walk in. As midnight struck and there was still no sign of him, Angie couldn't hold back her tears any longer. In a fit of anger and sadness, she smashed the half-emptied third bottle of wine against her carefully curated collage, splattering red liquid all over the wall.

As Angie began to sob, tears streaming down her face, she was unaware of the change in weather outside. The once clear night sky, littered with stars, became filled with dark clouds that rolled in quickly. A lightning bolt illuminated the sky, followed by heavy rain pouring onto the streets and rooftops below. As Angie's cries grew louder, so did the intensity of the thunder and rain. It wasn't until a thunderous rumble shook the building that she finally snapped out of her crying fit and noticed the storm that was raging around her, rattling the windows.

Angie suddenly desired to be outdoors, so she did just that. Without bothering to grab a coat or an umbrella, she braved the rain and let it soak her to the bone. Under the influence of a hefty amount of alcohol, she walked unsteadily through her yard, her bare feet squishing through the damp grass. From her spot atop the hill, where her home sat perched above the city, she took in the view below.

With plucks of wet hair glued to her comely face, Angie's tears made place for laughter. When a bolt of lightning shot down from the clouds, striking a nearby tree, setting it on fire. Angie could not contain her amusement as she realized that her will caused it.

Amidst the howling wind, the sharp clatter of rain on the roofs, and the ominous rumble of thunder, Angie's laughter erupted like a mad symphony, taking on a maniacal quality that would send shivers down to anyone who could hear it.
