Korean Superiority - Chapter 3

Soo Min begins her mission of conquering the United States.

+++

The bustling city of Los Angeles was alive, with towering skyscrapers reflecting the golden rays of the sun while the daily hustle and bustle of its inhabitants continued day and night. Crowds spilled onto crowded streets and roads, commuting to and from work while carrying the weight of their mortgage and marriage on their shoulders. Amidst the sea of gray concrete structures, pockets of green parks provided a much-needed respite from the monotony. Here, people could be seen leisurely jogging the same circle over and over, walking their dogs, or indulging in ice cream treats while dodging the occasional dropping from passing birds above. The air was filled with the sounds of chatter and laughter as locals escaped the stresses of urban life for a brief moment in these peaceful oases within the city.

It was a typical day for the city's residents, making it easy for them to get swept up in the beauty of their surroundings and momentarily forget the chaos that had taken place just weeks before.

For it was then that a young Asian girl with powers none of them understood, had shrunk the entire city down to minuscule proportions, holding it in the palm of her hand like a dollhouse while smiling down upon it. The once bustling streets now eerily still beneath her mighty fingers.

Panic rippled through the streets as the girl's face appeared above them, looking bigger than life. A mischievous gleam twinkled in her eyes as she gazed down at her prized possession, giving the citizens a harsh reminder of their precarious situation. Despite the potential danger this sole girl presented, the frightened citizens could not deny the girl's breathtaking beauty, with flawless porcelain skin and jet-black hair framing a gorgeous face.

"What are you gonna do with it?" asked Soohee, a friend of Soo Min who was allowed to travel with her. Her dark eyes widened with excitement as she leaned in closer to peer over Soo Min's shoulder.

Soo Min shrugged nonchalantly. "Anything I want, I guess." The sounds of desperate screams crescendoed from the poor people of Los Angeles, their voices a piercing contrast to the calmness in Soo Min's demeanor. Her fingers curled around the city, effortlessly plowing through its structures as if they were mere sandcastles. She had the power to manipulate and destroy at her fingertips and relished in it. She set her sights on a few buildings, aiming to crumble them with ease.

Soohee watched in apprehension as her friend reached for a burning cigarette nestled in an ashtray on the nearby table. She held it gingerly between her fingers and thumb, the glowing ember dangerously close to the tiny buildings she had delicately pinched together.

Dozens of shrunken citizens stared with wide eyes, their terror reflected in their expressions as Soo Min brought the burning end of her cigarette closer to them. The heat radiating from the lit tip was like a miniature sun, driving these doomed people to back away until they were pressed against a wall with no escape. Some made the decision to jump out of a nearby window, preferring a quick death rather than enduring the excruciating pain of being burned alive.

Soo Min's lips formed a perfect 'O' as she drew the cigarette closer, taking a slow, deliberate drag. The lit end flared with renewed intensity as it fed on fresh oxygen, intensifying the combustion process. The cherry-red glow of the cigarette seemed to brighten, and its heat intensified, casting an orange hue on Soo Min's face.

The outcome was catastrophic for the group seeking shelter in the dilapidated structure that Soo Min held between her finger and thumb. The intense heat from her power caused their bodies to spontaneously ignite, engulfing them in excruciating agony before collapsing like burned-out embers. Soohee wrinkled her nose in disgust. "It's starting to smell like charred flesh, and definitely not in a pleasant way."

Soo Min leaned in and took a whiff, her expression shifting to one of disgust. "Ugh, you're right." She waved her hand, and the tiny buildings flew, crashing into a crowded area of the miniature city.

"What's your plan now?" Soohee asked as she watched Soo Min stand up from her seat.

Soo Min stretched her arms above her head, feeling the satisfying crack of her tense muscles releasing. She had been hunched over for what felt like hours, carefully studying her once-grand city, now reduced to a mere model on the table before her. From her elevated position, Soo Min's eyes glinted with a mix of satisfaction and disdain as she surveyed the destruction below. The tiny buildings and streets looked pitiful in comparison to the expanse of her bare thighs that loomed above them, casting a shadow of doom upon the miniature world.

Soo Mon paused for a moment, her finger raised to her lips in contemplation. "I think I'm just going to..." she trailed off before making a decision. With determination, she balled up her fist and brought it down with full force onto the city below, causing significant damage.

"This is getting dull. I'm done playing." Soo Min grabbed the table and tilted it, sending a large portion of the city toppling over the edge. Some parts stubbornly clung to the surface but were easily swept away by Soo Min's arm as if she were knocking over a tower of blocks.

Soo Min asked her friend, in a kind tone, "Could you grab a duster, please?" Soohee smiled and nodded, "Of course. But..." She took a few steps closer to the destroyed city, her eyes filled with longing. "Can I just...you know..." she hesitated, dangling her boot above the rubble. Soo Min sighed and rolled her eyes, "Oh, come on! Just step on it!"

CRASH!

Soohee took a few more steps, her boots crunching the debris that was once the bustling city of Los Angeles. Her friend Soo Min watched patiently, savoring the moment as Soohee enjoyed the feeling of crushing something under her boot. "Alright, I'm done," Soohee proclaimed, handing over the duster before crouching down to sweep up the remains of L.A. and toss them in the garbage. It was a stark reminder of how easily millions of lives were discarded.

Soohee asked, "What's your next move in your master plan to conquer the United States?" She glanced longingly at the pack of cigarettes, silently asking Soo Min for permission to take one.

Soo Min eagerly handed her friend the package, and Soohee's eyes lit up as she accepted while clapping her hands. Soo Min took one for herself, noticing that the remaining one was just a short stub. She extinguished it in the ashtray. After lighting her own cigarette, Soo Min settled into a plush chair, taking a deep drag before leaning back and propping one leg on the armrest. She gazed thoughtlessly out the window of the villa where she had taken up residence after shrinking its occupants.

Perched atop a hill, the villa offered a breathtaking view of the city of L.A. However, now that view included a massive crater where L.A. used to be. Soohee sat across from her friend in a chair, following her gaze to the destruction beyond. "Will New York be next? Or are you going straight for the heart by striking Washington?" she asked. Soo Min shook her head. "It would end too quickly if I attacked Washington. I want to prolong the enjoyment for as long as possible."

A distant sound pierced the air, indicating the imminent arrival of two fighter jets. As they approached, the specks on the horizon grew into recognizable aircraft. Keeping a safe distance, the pilots were well aware of what had happened to previous military forces that tried to confront the invading force led by two teenage girls. With Soo Min wearing a highly advanced device, any opposing technology would instantly shrink down to nothingness once it entered her vicinity.

The fighter jets fired several missiles. As expected, the missiles vanished in midair when they came too close.

It was a futile effort, as everyone knew it would be.

Soohee's gaze shifted to the distant fighter jets, fully aware of Soo Min's ability to shrink them down with her equipment. "Are you going to capture them?" Soohee inquired.

Soo Min casually shrugged her shoulders. "Not really feeling up to it."

"So, what do you want to do now? We have to do something. After all, our timeline expects us to take over America in just two months."

"We still have plenty of time; we've only been here for a week. How about going sunbathing? I saw a beautiful lake with a great view on our way here."

Soohee's brow furrowed. "Sunbathing? But what about our mission?"

Soo Min waved her hand dismissively. "It can wait. Let's take some time off and relax."

Hand in hand, the two girls, whose goal was to conquer a country with millions of people, set off to enjoy a much-deserved vacation.
