Chapter 78: The Final Month
Added 2024-05-06 10:17:24 +0000 UTCFollowing orders from headquarters, Bardock and other Saiyans swiftly concluded their mission on Planet Kanassa and prepared to return to Planet Vegeta. Meanwhile, Saiyans across the universe, having received similar orders, were also making their way back.
In the large spacecraft.
Bardock sat gloomily in the cockpit, discussing the recent events on Planet Kanassa with his deputy commander, Bos.
"It’s really unusual for us all to be called back to Planet Vegeta so suddenly. What’s going on? It seems to be an order from Frieza's side!" Bos remarked, puzzled.
"Take down the detector first, be careful not to be overheard!"
"Oh, right!" Bos realized his oversight and quickly turned off the energy detector.
"No matter what Frieza is plotting, we'll head back to Planet Vegeta first!"
"Eh? What could he possibly be plotting? Maybe he's discovered some incredible planet that requires a lot of manpower for a major operation?" Bos laughed, lacking any real fondness for Frieza, yet never imagining that Frieza might harbor ambitions to annihilate the Saiyans.
"Right, I’ve heard that there’s been a lot of troop movements within the Frieza Force recently, as if they’re preparing for some mission. I bet it's just because they're short on hands and need us Saiyans to bolster their forces."
"Let's hope that's the case!" Bardock crossed his arms, though his heart was far from optimistic.
Recalling the visions he had seen on Planet Kanassa, his brow furrowed deeply. Coupled with the strange orders from Frieza, his unease only intensified.
Suddenly, a sharp pain coursed through his brain. Bardock clutched his forehead and leaned forward in his chair.
Phantom images projected onto his retinas like a movie reel.
A verdant green planet floated in space, its sky glowing with a soft green light, its ground covered with tender grass.
On the vast plains, a young man in an orange martial arts uniform stood proudly. Opposite him was a petite figure with alternating purple and white colors, a long tail, and striking crimson eyes that demanded attention.
"What is this place?"
Bardock found himself in an unknown land, watching two figures confront each other in total silence, as if completely unaware of his presence.
"Could this be another vision cursed by the Kanassan elder?" Bardock calmed himself, realizing he was viewing the scene as if watching a film, entirely from a third-person perspective.
His strong mental fortitude allowed him to quickly regain composure. Bardock stood silently, observing the scene. He then noticed something startling—the young man in the orange martial arts uniform looked exactly like him.
"That person... could it be Raditz? No, it must be Kakarot!"
Bardock's eyes sparkled with a flash of insight, a sense of blood connection flowing deep within his heart.
He turned his gaze toward the figure opposite him, a petite silhouette with soft armor-like white skin, adorned with purple soft material at the top of the head, shoulders, and arms, shimmering under the sunlight with a glossy brilliance.
The eyes, crimson and icy, were as merciless as a demon's.
Those chilling, crimson eyes reminded him of someone.
"Frieza!"
Bardock exclaimed.
He was certain, the one standing before him was indeed Frieza! Though his appearance differed from the Frieza he had seen before, those indifferent, mad eyes could belong to no other.
"Could this be a vision of Kakarot battling Frieza? Is this really a glimpse of the future?"
A sudden fear gripped Bardock's heart. If these were indeed scenes from the future, it meant that the visions cursed by the people of Planet Kanassa could be true, and Planet Vegeta might be doomed to destruction by Frieza's hand.
At that moment, the figure in the vision, who looked exactly like him, began to fight.
Their movements were as fast as the wind and as quick as lightning, their actions so swift that they surpassed the capture speed of the naked eye. Bardock tried to focus, but he could only catch brief afterimages as their level of combat far exceeded his own.
The vision fast-forwarded, and Bardock watched everything as if he were merely a spectator.
The sky had turned dark, and the space between heaven and earth was filled with glistening lightning.
Boom!
Waves surged violently, and the ground had cracked open.
The young man in the orange martial arts uniform was now bare-chested, and amid the thunder and lightning, he let out an angry roar. His black hair flickered and finally turned into a glowing golden hue, his eyes a deep, icy green, devoid of any emotion.
After transforming into a golden-haired, green-eyed youth, he struck furiously, overwhelmingly defeating his opponent.
"Could that be the legendary Super Saiyan?"
Bardock was stunned by the youth's transformation, his face filled with excitement as his blood boiled with fervor!
Although he could no longer comprehend such a level of existence, there was no doubt that the legendary Super Saiyan truly existed, and it was very likely that his son, Kakarot, had achieved it.
The vision then became blurry again.
Bardock, drenched in sweat, collapsed onto a chair, while his deputy commander, Bos, looked on with concern.
"Mr. Bardock, what's wrong with you, are you feeling unwell?"
"Oh... it's nothing, just a bit tired!"
He calmly replied, looking up at the ceiling, but his heart remained unsettled for a long time...
Was all this the true future? Or was it a deception by the people of Planet Kanassa, designed to confuse him and ultimately incite a rift between the Saiyans and Frieza?
……
On a distant planet, Prince Vegeta sat atop a pile of rubble, voraciously devouring a chunk of roast meat. Beside him, primitive beings, akin to dinosaurs, crawled on the ground.
"Prince Vegeta, is it really okay not to return? You are a prince, after all!" Raditz inquired, nursing an injury on his arm.
"Who cares, just pretend you don’t know," Vegeta responded coldly, focused on his meal, showing no intention of returning to Planet Vegeta. Raditz hesitated, wanting to speak but too intimidated to voice his thoughts.
At that moment, a bald youth approached and plopped down beside them, grabbing a piece of the roast to eat. "Why bother saying so much? Just follow Vegeta’s lead!"
"Okay... okay," Raditz replied weakly, not daring to contradict, aware of his lower status as a warrior, often scorned by the others.
...
On the space route to Planet Vegeta, rows of saucer-shaped spaceships sped through the cosmos. The largest in the center was Frieza’s flagship.
Aboard his personal hovercraft, Frieza floated to the observatory at the front of the ship, where stars zoomed past like fleeting meteors.
"Lord Frieza, if I may speak frankly, that so-called Super Saiyan is just a clichéd hero’s tale. It’s impossible they exist," a frog-faced alien remarked.
Frieza laughed. "Of course, I know. After observing them for years, these Saiyans have proven to be nothing more than useless wild monkeys. And here I was, expecting so much!"
"Still, I can't shake this unease! These overly proud fools will never contentedly serve as my slaves. It's time to eliminate them. When can the Saiyans return to Planet Vegeta?"
"Except for the ones in far-off locations, one month should be sufficient."
"Then let’s attack Planet Vegeta in a month. Prepare the Frieza Force; I can hardly wait!" Frieza ordered coldly, a sly smile playing on his lips.
"Yes, Lord Frieza!" The frog-faced alien barked in response before exiting the command center to relay Frieza’s orders.
"Dodoria, after we destroy Planet Vegeta, make sure to hunt down any remaining Saiyans. I don’t want to see a single one escape."
"Heh, consider it done." Dodoria, with his pink belly swaying, chuckled menacingly, the spikes on his head quivering.
In a month, they would witness Lord Frieza's grand display of power, a thought that kept Dodoria too excited to sleep, eagerly awaiting the swiftly approaching day.

Hopefully bardock and Gine is on the list. Because that would be a good surprise for later arcs of the story. Because goku would still need to go on his journey and vegeta has to experience the bad life to keep the main story on track. I can see that they won’t come in contact with adult goku for a while because that would mess up the story with the high power levels. So like around after freeza’s death they could meet up.
