Chapter 76: Bardock and Gine

Xavier settled down, feeling a torrent of vast and boundless energy surging through his body, but with just a slight intention, all this energy calmed obediently. He had achieved a level of control over this energy that was completely at his whim, demonstrating a higher mastery in its manipulation.

"Though I haven't been training deliberately, my strength continues to climb steadily—benefits reaped from mental training!" Clenching his fists, a faint smile hung on Xavier’s face.

"Xavier, my power level is almost hitting 120,000!" After a brief rest, Celine, her face as white as snow, looked up, her cheeks slightly flushed with excitement. Over this period, she had made rapid strides, pushing her power level to 118,000, nearly catching up to Xavier from a year ago, a testament to her swift growth, although the gap between her and Xavier had not closed.

"My power level just reached 145,000!" Xavier chuckled lightly. Celine, hearing this, felt a bit deflated. "Ugh, I’ve been trying so hard, why can't I catch up to you!"

Placing his hand on her head, feeling the softness of her hair, Xavier said, "Don’t always think about these things; it’s exhausting and pointless. Remember, haste makes waste. Sometimes, worrying too much can create obstacles. Better to think about something else."

"Like what?"

"Like... gourmet food…"

"Xavier!" Celine whimpered, swatting away his hand from her head, patting her smooth belly, "I'm not happy now, I want a feast!"

Xavier watched her with a bemused smile; this girl always turned her sorrow into an appetite! Thankfully, as a Saiyan, she had a robust stomach. If she were a human, such eating would have surely ruined her figure.

"Alright, alright!" Complying, Xavier opened a dimensional space and pulled out a massive array of food, then watched with interest as the girl devoured the feast. Although her manners were less than graceful, watching Celine enjoy her meal was somehow quite entertaining.

...

Near the spaceport on Planet Vegeta, at a gathering site. The vast, empty plains showed no signs of life. Behind the mountain ridges on the east-west trajectory of the plains, several simple sunshades were constructed behind the protruding rock formations.

It was now midday, the scorching sun overhead, the rising heat making the air shimmer slightly. The sunshades behind the foothills had now gathered several hundred Saiyans, some in groups chatting, others lying down alone, quietly waiting for more to arrive. Soon, the area swelled to about a thousand Saiyans.

Among these Saiyans were low-ranking warriors and high-ranking warriors alike, all visibly excited, eager to participate in Planet Vegeta’s annual large-scale military campaign. Soon, these thousand Saiyans would form a squadron, and then set off together to revel in the thrill of battle!

This type of large-scale campaign was classified as a special mission by the Mission Management Bureau, necessitating the mobilization of high-ranking warriors with power levels close to 10,000.

This mission aimed to conquer the mysterious Planet Kanassa.

"Bardock, make sure to stay safe when we get to Planet Kanassa, don’t be too reckless!" A petite yet stunning female Saiyan adjusted her husband’s hair and re-tied his headband.

Bardock laughed heartily, his broad hand patting the shoulder of the female Saiyan, a gentle smile spreading across his scarred face.

"Gine, don't you know my strength yet? A small planet like Kanassa won't be a challenge for me. Just relax!" Bardock reassured his wife with confidence in his voice.

"But still, be careful!" Gine retorted, giving her husband a stern look.

These two were none other than Goku’s biological parents, Bardock and his wife, Gine.

It had been twelve years since Xavier first met Bardock. Now, Bardock had matured into a seasoned and muscular warrior, married to Gine, who worked in logistics.

Gine was petite, much like Alice, and among these rough Saiyan warriors, she seemed almost childlike. Yet, this slight-framed Saiyan woman had already borne two children.

Bardock was about to depart on a mission to subjugate Planet Kanassa, while Gine, in charge of logistics meat processing, would remain on Planet Vegeta.

"By the way, how is Raditz doing now?" Bardock asked, adjusting his gear.

At the mention of their eldest son, a joyful smile spread across Gine's face. "Raditz is on a mission with Prince Vegeta. They should have already reached their destination!"

Bardock nodded. His son Raditz, like him, was only a low-class warrior, yet, surprisingly, he had been assigned to join Prince Vegeta on this mission. It was unclear how the Mission Management had arranged such a pairing.

Perhaps it was just to burden the prince with an extra load, Bardock thought with a hint of self-deprecation.

However, Bardock felt no shame in being a low-class warrior; he knew that even those born low could match high-class warriors through battle and training. He himself was a prime example, having far surpassed the average high-class warrior. As the commander of this mission, Bardock’s power level was nearing 10,000, making him one of the few low-class warriors to achieve such a feat.

...

Two months' travel from Planet Vegeta, at Frieza's headquarters.

Within the opulent palace, Frieza hovered beside a window in a small, egg-shaped flyer, his long tail dangling and swaying in mid-air.

"Lord Frieza, here are all the data on Saiyan spaceships launched in recent years!" a Planet Tuffles inhabitant reported, waving his arms towards Frieza.

Frieza's flyer pivoted, his crimson eyes gleaming malevolently, his purple lips slightly parted as he coldly addressed Dodoria standing by his side:

"Mr. Dodoria, issue the order. Have the Frieza Force track down and eliminate all Saiyan children sent out on missions according to the list. Remember, I want none left! Ah, and keep this matter secret; we can’t let the Saiyans on Planet Vegeta find out."

"Yes, my lord!" Dodoria responded, his expression stern, then hesitantly added, "I heard that the King of Vegeta’s son is also on a mission. Should we also..."

Frieza waved his hand dismissively, "Leave Vegeta be; he’s a fine toy to keep around for a while longer. By the way, Mr. Dodoria, would you care to join me for a fireworks show?"

Dodoria immediately brightened, excitedly responding, "Lord Frieza, are you planning to destroy Planet Vegeta?"

The prospect of witnessing another splendid and majestic spectacle thrilled Dodoria. Ever since he had last seen a planet obliterated, he had been unable to forget the grandeur of such destruction and longed to see it again.

"Yes, it's a mission assigned by Lord Beerus himself. I had intended to spare the Saiyans for a while longer, but it seems that's no longer possible," Frieza spoke somberly.

Frieza's father had once warned him that in the universe, there were two beings that even their tyrannical Frieza clan dared not provoke. One was the ancient Majin Buu, and the other was the legendary God of Destruction, Beerus. Frieza had been skeptical, but when Beerus himself appeared before him, Frieza realized that the God of Destruction was truly not to be trifled with.

Initially, Frieza had intended to let the Saiyans exist a bit longer, but since the order came directly from Lord Beerus, he could not defy it.

"Lord Beerus?" Dodoria paused, certain he had not heard this name before. But since even Lord Frieza referred to him with such respect, he must indeed be an exceedingly formidable figure. "Heh, these Saiyans really know how to cause trouble, attracting the wrath of such powerful beings!"

"Ah, if only Zarbon were still here, he too could have enjoyed the beautiful fireworks," Frieza sighed regretfully, lamenting the absence of someone to share the beautiful sight with. The loss of Zarbon was still a sore point; his longtime companion had met an unexplained end on Planet Phydia, and to this day, the perpetrator remained unknown.

Years ago, when the Ginyu Force arrived at Planet Phydia, they found it abandoned, leaving behind nothing but a lava-strewn and scorching planet.
