Chapter 72: Immediate Evacuation
Added 2024-05-04 15:13:39 +0000 UTCOf course, at this moment, Xavier was gradually recalling some details he had forgotten.
The original narrative mentioned that not long before the destruction of Planet Vegeta, the God of Destruction, Beerus, indeed visited and even coerced King Vegeta to bow his proud head—an event that young Vegeta witnessed, casting a deep shadow over his childhood.
Unexpectedly, today’s events turned almost disastrous when Merus inadvertently enraged Beerus, nearly causing the premature destruction of Planet Vegeta. After pondering the situation, Xavier’s eyes narrowed slightly: "No, as long as the God of Destruction remains on Planet Vegeta, it’s not safe here. I better take Celine and the others and leave sooner rather than later."
Originally, to avoid drawing attention, Xavier and his companions planned to depart the evening before the planet’s destruction. Now, however, considering their lives and fortunes were at stake, subtlety was no longer a priority.
"Merus!" Xavier called out the name, then dug out a string of candies from his pocket and placed them in Merus’s hands, saying, "Keep these candies safe—as an apology from me. You better head back now!"
Without waiting for Merus to react, Xavier hurriedly walked out of the alley and into the crowd, quickly disappearing from sight. Merus stood dazed in the alley, watching until Xavier was no longer visible among the throng.
"Ah! That guy... ugh..." Merus rubbed his sore bottom, the stinging sensation still lingering. Biting his thumb, he felt increasingly aggrieved and angrily stamped his foot.
Then, glancing at the string of candies in his hand, Merus licked them tentatively—a sweet taste. His eyes suddenly brightened, and he licked them more earnestly, "Mmm, so tasty!" The delightful flavor soothed his palate, and his mood improved significantly.
Nevertheless, regarding Xavier, the annoying figure, Merus made a mental note. With her vindictive nature, she was determined to settle this score one day.
……
Back at their residential home.
Xavier rushed back from outside and, upon seeing Adriel and Rebecca at home, urgently asked, "Uncle Adriel, is Celine at home?"
"That girl is resting in her room. What happened?" Adriel, surprised by Xavier's urgency, raised an eyebrow.
"No time to explain now, Uncle Adriel. You need to alert Uncle Belruk immediately—we have to leave Planet Vegeta right away!"
"Alright, I’ll contact them right now!" Realizing the gravity of the situation, Adriel’s expression turned serious. Xavier wasn't one to panic, not even when facing Frieza, so this must be dire.
Nodding to Adriel, Xavier headed straight for Celine's room, pushing the door open without knocking. Inside, Celine was lazily lying in bed under a thin sheet. Without a word, Xavier scooped her up, blanket and all.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Celine woke with a start.
"Stop fussing, we'll talk once we've left this place!" Xavier's stern expression silenced her, and she followed him to the living room, full of questions.
By then, Adriel had put down his communicator, looking puzzled at his daughter still wrapped in her blanket, and said, "I’ve informed Belruk and the others to wait at their place."
"Good, let's head over now." Xavier nodded and prepared to use Instant Transmission. In the next moment, their surroundings shifted, and the four of them appeared on a desolate, distant planet.
On the barren planet.
The sky was a dull yellow, the air biting cold.
Only seven towering spires stood defiantly, like soldiers guarding a frontier, their casings marked by the weathering of wind and rain.
"Uncle Adriel, you and the others stay in the gravity training room. I'll go and bring everyone else here." After speaking, Xavier immediately used Instant Transmission again and disappeared.
Watching Xavier's frantic demeanor, Celine voiced her confusion, "What's actually going on? Why is Xavier in such a rush? Did Frieza attack Planet Vegeta?"
Having known him for years, she had never seen Xavier so disheveled!
In her eyes, Xavier was always composed and in control, a mythic figure who never faltered. What could possibly unsettle him like this? She could only suspect that Frieza was launching an assault on Planet Vegeta.
Adriel shook his head, clenched his fists, and stared solemnly in the direction of Planet Vegeta. "Could it really be Frieza’s doing?"
"Celine, go change your clothes in the gravity training room first!"
Rebecca frowned at the sight of her daughter wrapped in a blanket. Despite the Saiyan’s casual nature, she thought it improper for a young lady.
Thankfully, the gravity training room, built lavishly by the Phydia people, included not just the upper training levels but also a dining area, washrooms, and living quarters below, stocked with all necessary daily supplies.
Celine glanced at herself, uttered an "Oh," and headed into the gravity room to change her clothes.
Soon after, Belruk, Paradis, Liz, Alice, and other members of the team like Shakda, Atasya, and Jelin were transported over by Xavier. When the idea of relocating to Planet Red Mountain was first proposed, Xavier had revealed the truth to the members of his squad, who had reacted as if invigorated, their admiration for him evident in their gaze...
"Captain, what’s really going on? Has Frieza decided to make a move?" Shakda's handsome face tensed up, his expression turning grim.
"Yeah, why the rush to move us here? What happened?" Belruk and the other Saiyans also inquired.
Xavier shook his head and carefully chose his words: "It’s not Frieza attacking Planet Vegeta; it's just that staying on Planet Vegeta has become even more dangerous."
"What do you mean?" Adriel frowned, puzzled.
If it wasn't Frieza attacking, with their current power, they should be able to handle almost any situation. Why would Xavier say that staying on Planet Vegeta was more dangerous? Was there some other unforeseen event?
Xavier took a deep breath and exhaled slowly: "If it were just Frieza, even at the moment of the planet’s destruction, I could have transported you all to safety. But do you know who I saw on Planet Vegeta just now?"
"Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction! That mighty deity appeared on Planet Vegeta!"
Recalling the near-death experience, Xavier still felt a shiver, adding, "It’s also a stroke of luck, really. If it weren’t for the God of Destruction’s almost obsessive love for gourmet food, I might not have had a chance to survive."
In the presence of the God of Destruction, his psychic powers seemed as if they were frozen, utterly unable to be unleashed.
