This episode paid for a large chunk of Goauld mothership set they used in every later season. So it was certainly worth it.

oh it was definitely an exercise in saving money, which was then well spent in the finale

Great to see you enjoying a show I have loved for years. Usually I'm not a fan of flashback episodes as they can seem to be a exercise in saving money. I don't feel that way about this one. As it fits perfectly into the narrative, as well as being, like you said, a recap or refresher as we go into the finale.

Love seeing how excited you are for the next episodes. I can see your love for SG-1 growing the more you watch and that makes me super happy! I'm so glad you gave it a chance.

Lady Beyond The Wall

good one

Yea if people dislike low budget clip episodes I would like to refer them to the alternatives like "Fear Her" in doctor who. I'll take a clip show any day vs that.

I love this episode as well. I think people who can’t watch the flashbacks of the previous episodes that are placed throughout this one aren’t really watching and understanding this episode to its full effect. It’s a really great episode. And the acting is amazing, really well done and 100% believable every time I watch it!

The line about 'uploading a computer virus into the mothership' is referencing the movie "Independence Day" BTW, if you haven't seen it, worth seeing.

I see we think alike. I just posted almost the same comment

For a clip show it served it's purpose well. You might have noticed the flashbacks from the pilot were a bit different since they came from the original cut(the superior cut IMO, and the one you should have watched). Kinsey is an ass, a politician's politician, but he makes for a great villain throughout much of the show. Clearly with much of the episode being lengthy flashbacks and the rest being sitting around a table talking it's obvious this episode was made on the cheap, but with the 2 parter coming up, I think you'll agree it was well worth saving that money for the finale.

So, this is basically a clip episode, but at least they keep it interesting with a storyline plot that carries directly into the Finale, and also picked up from the previous episode, that keeps it "fresh", but just barely, it is very obviously a clip show. The way I feel about that though is that it was done to save budget, for the special effects in the finale.
