I mean now when you dial your own number you either get a busy message or you go to voicemail. So it’s not too difficult for younger generations to understand. At the very least they’ll know it as “What happens when you dial your own number” “it doesn’t work”

Thors Hammer is episode 9

I'm curious, what did you mean by "yo Thor, where you at"? Did you mean MCU Thor or have you been watching ahead? This episode introduces Sgt. Siler who is played by Dan Shea, the show's stunt coordinator. Perhaps due to this the character gets injured in some way in most of his appearances, which is a bit of a running joke through the show. What bugged me in this episode is that Carter never considered that the earth gate was damaged or that they emerged at a gate too close to earth to establish a wormhole to there. Considering it only take a few seconds, she could have tried dialing Cimmeria or Cartago(from Cor-Ai) and get help there and/or try dialing Earth from there. Anywhere that's warmer. I also like that Hammond is committed enough to his people to join the rescue mission.

I really love this episode. I mentioned before when I got ahead of myself thinking this episode was coming up that there is an outtake for this episode which is a prank on Richard. He was the star of a show in the 80's and 90's called Macgyver. (I know there is a remake but pretending I don't.) The premise of which was he was this go to guy for extreme situations and was basically a one man A-Team. I love it because he is known as the wisecracker and it's Amanda having the fun at his expense. 😂 https://youtu.be/EriZ9ruZq1E

I thought about that when he said 'dial your own phone number' and the people of this generation may not understand that. I grew up in the time before cell phones, so when I watched SG1 when it was new it made sense. I had actually tried dialing my own number on a land line when I was young, and that's exactly what happened.

I’ve been waiting for this episode! I’ve seen it half-a-dozen times and I always get teary-eyed when Gen. Hammond accompanies the rescue mission to Antarctica. As for a second Stargate on Earth? Oh, yes!!! I love Jackson asking Teal’c what happens when you dial your own phone number before realizing he’s the wrong person to be asking. You get a busy signal. Some whales might be too young to know that’s how it worked with telephones back in ye olden days. Even the expression “dialing a phone” has become an anachronism in my own lifetime.

Man, thankfully the audio issues didn't affect stargate! Thanks for the reaction. TWO gates, :O

Ricardo Pomalaza

Two gates comrades :)

Love this episode! Thanks for the Reaction!

When you watch the movie you'll learn how the Stargate works with the whole coordinate system and what the symbols mean, and why it's 6 symbols and a point of origin, making 7 total. Then this episode will make a little more sense on why the gate couldn't dial Earth. Otherwise, yep, this does open up big implications for there being a second gate on Earth. In the movie, and up to recently, they thought the Goa'uld made the gates and the gate system, but the Goa'uld may not actually have been the ones to make them, just use them and distribute them for their nefarious goals. It opens up a big world-building scenario as you mentioned. It makes you think. So the question then is, something to think about, which gate was the first gate on Earth, the one Ra put there (which is the one they are using at the SGC) or this one they found in Antarctica. I won't spoil you of course, so keep watching. I can't wait for your movie reaction also. The rest of S1 is so good, can't wait for the rest.
