Weekly Progress Update [09/OCT]
Added 2023-10-09 18:43:53 +0000 UTCHellooo, we're back with the progress updates!!
This'll mostly be about the planning I have set up for CH12, though I have also already started writing it. I was aiming for 10k but managed 7k words overall, still not too bad for my first week! Hope I'll be able to crank up the wordcount this week now that I'm getting back in the groove.
This is an overview of what CH12 will look like:
- Branching scene: did you choose to visit the peri trader, or did you choose to have Kham arrange the meeting?
- Main story scene: Imperial Court meeting, the content of which changes depending on your LI route.
- Main story scene: Preparations for the expedition to the mountains
- LI divergences: Romantic high/low status and LI-specific plot outcomes (with Behram, D's position, the incident in the city, and R's resolution) will be brought up during the Imperial Court meeting, and cause variations throughout the entire chapter
To expand more on the fourth point, the LI subplots/romances that hit their first major point in CH11 will be carrying over to CH12. This will be especially apparent in D and A's routes, since their plot outcomes have the most direct effect on the story.
D's matter with their position as High General might become an issue for them if you got the more unfavorable outcome on that front. Not to mention the stolen letter, but it might take a bit longer to see the results of that particular plot thread...
A's romance has the biggest difference out of all the LIs so far where A and your Crown can be either in a really bad place or a really good place going into CH12. You'll get a chance to correct it if you're on A's low romance route, at least. So make sure not to squander the opportunity!
R and X are a bit more ambiguous and subtle in terms of their differences, though there will still be very notable variations, especially a low romance vs a high romance. X tends to keep a facade up, but I low romance players will be able to pick up on some underlying tension. Meanwhile R might be acting especially strangely in a low romance, I would definitely keep an eye on that if you're going that route with them.
Annndddd I'll leave you with this cute little preview:
“It would be quite a detour to turn back and head for the western ranges, a week at least. Your father’s goal was Peak Asha, was it not?”
“It was.” The longer you are away from your throne, the greater the risk the nobility will notice something amiss. Perhaps it isn’t worth the danger, and you should plan the visit to your hometown for another time.
$rname thinks on it a moment longer, then says, “We could arrange to have shirdals delivered to us after we visit your hometown. It would cut the detour short to just a day or two.”
“To carry us up the mountains?” You can’t quite hide the wonder in your voice.
In case you forgot, a shirdal = a griffin. Who doesn't love a flying mount 👀
That was it for this week!! Until next time 💖
