R's Character Q&A, Part II

Been a while since I did one of these!! With how CH10 went on R's route, I thought it would be nice to add a few romance questions as well. As an apology to R romancers haha. You can find the first Q&A I did for R here.

Let's start with something lighthearted!!

What kind of hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
"Researching different fields of magic. Lately I've been learning more about the sigils used in wards, and how they differ specifically across regions, but not necessarily across languages. This is evident in Arsur itself: despite the many variations in dialects and languages, the sigils we use on the northern part of the continent are the same. Meanwhile, in the central region of Hidica, where Qathesh and a few other monarchies reside, they use an entirely different set of sigils-

"Ah, sorry, I'm rambling again! In any case, aside from my research, I enjoy reading literature and poetry, going horseback riding, falconry, and I've even dabbled in some blacksmithing. I suppose that's also related to magic, in a way, but I really admire the craft!"

Who would you say is your favorite Crown in history?
"That would have to be the sixth one, Crown Bardiya. He revolutionized the use of sigils, and expanded the functions of wards beyond what anyone could've imagined before. I've read that they were a difficult person to get along with, due to their eccentricity, but... honestly, the accounts of his exploits are very funny."

Have you had any past courtships?
"I've had a few, but none of them lasted very long."

How come?
"I was preoccupied in my search for the Crown. The longest courtship I had was with a soldier from the provincial army in Avdin, while I was searching there. It lasted for two years, but it was a bit unsteady. We couldn't see each other very often because how busy the both of us were, so eventually, we decided it would be better to break it off. My other two courtships were very similar."

Are you typically the one to ask to court others, or do others ask to court you?
"Due to my title as the Sorcerer, I don't usually ask to court others in case I accidentally pressure someone to accept.

"The soldier I spoke of earlier, they didn't know I was the Sorcerer at first. We met each other in a local teahouse, where I was enjoying some of my free time - they didn't find out until we were a month into getting to know each other, and I was certain they liked me for me."

What kinds of people are you usually attracted to?
"I don't know that I have enough of a sample to say. I'm still quite young and have only had three courtships before... but I suppose the one thing they all had in common was that they had a certain strength of character. They were passionate about something, determined to accomplish their goals."

(Assuming the Crown is romancing R:) How does the Crown match up to that?
"Oh... well... the Crown is a very strong-willed person. [They] might not feel this way, but to me and everyone else around [them], it's clear as day to see.

"If I had gone through what [they] had, I would be a wreck. Going from a life on the run to having to address the nobility, to make such huge decisions for the entire Empire--I don't know that I could've done it half as well as [them]. I know very few people who could. Not to mention having to do all of that while having lost [their] only family just a year ago... the Crown's resilience is incredibly admirable."

You said you don't usually ask to court others because of your title. Would it be different with the Crown?
"I... I suppose it might be. Assuming that I had feelings- that I had the intention of- yes, then I could ask to court [them] without much worry. Hypothetically speaking."

Would it be an issue for the Sorcerer and the Crown to court each other?
"It could be ill-advised, but it has happened before with previous Crowns. It was rumored that even Ashadūna herself courted her own Sorcerer, Lady Viyan, but nothing was ever officially recorded by the historians. I do know that Crown Dila, for example, courted both her Sorcerer as well as her Royal Protector, and they were two of the four who became Jewels of the Crown.

"Some in the Imperial Court might question it in order to undermine the Crown, but generally speaking, it's not very scandalous. The main concern I would have is that my feelings might get in the way of seeing certain situations objectively."

Do you fear that would be a likely scenario?
"Perhaps. If I were... If I were interested in courting the Crown, and [they] decided something that went against my own convictions... yes, I would worry that it would be a painful situation to deal with it.

"All I can do is hope such a situation would never come to pass- if I were hypothetically interested in courting the Crown, I mean! Hypothetically!"

That was it for this Q&A!! Next month we'll go back to voting for which LI to feature, and you'll be able to send in your own questions as well.

For tier 3, I'll see you again on Friday for A's romantic snippet. For everyone else, I'll post a progress update for CH11 this Sunday, so I'll see you then!!

Hope you have a great rest of your week 💖
