Weekly Progress Update [11/DEC]

Hey all!!

It's been a few weeks since I did one of these, but my writing pace has been erratic lately. Hope the CH10 previews made up for that, in the meantime!!

(Also, I only realized yesterday that I totally forgot to write up the Dev Sneak Peek, I'll post that the coming Wednesday instead 😭)

As for current progress, this past week has actually been rather productive!! In terms of chapter size, I think this one will be a bit smaller in wordcount, maximum size being in the realm of ~35k if I'm being generous. 

Currently, we're hovering between 17k-21k words, depending on which scenes I decide to cut out or include. There's soooo many things I want to get to with this chapter that I won't have a full view of it until I'm finished writing every scene that I have planned lol

At this point I'm guessing the chapter release will be somewhere in February, either early or late in the month, I'm not sure yet. It all depends on how the rest of December ends up being, writing pace wise. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks!!

This time, it's the Crown improving their magic skills! And a small moment with R...

“Let me dry you off, $rnickname.” $rname rises from $rtheir seat, having been watching your lesson from the low dining table in your chambers.

“I can do it,” you reply, not wanting $rname to waste $rtheir energy for something so simple. [ If the Crown is an outer magic type ] You hover your palm down your face and neck, pulling the rainwater toward your hand, and as it gathers in the air you chuck it out the window with a snap of your wrist. [ If the Crown is an inner magic type ] You pull your magic up to your skin again, though to a lesser extent this time. As it surfaces, your aura glows gold over your hands and face; the heat of the sun warms your body, the rainwater instantly evaporating and leaving you dry.

“You’ve improved quickly over such a short period,” $rname comments, and despite your little mishap at the end—you always struggle with the release—you do feel appreciative of $rtheir and Perjin’s praise. “Better control and more stamina.” 

It feels good to see your skills develop as you learn, improving and growing with every lesson, every practice session. 

“I have gotten better, haven’t I?” you say with a hint of pride, brightening up a little despite your fatigue as you appraise the rain that has now evened out again.

[ If R is not the Crown's love interest ]

“At this rate, you'll catch up to the average magus in no time,” $rname says, seeming genuinely happy for you. 

[ If R is the Crown's love interest ] 

“More confident, too.” $rname gives you a playful smile when you meet $rtheir eyes again. “It looks good on you.”
