Sitrep for January

Alright folks, now that the holidays are over and I'm mostly recovered (I was a bit run down and under the weather for the last couple of days), it's time to take stock.

Thankfully, plans for December went mostly to spec. In addition to Build 2 of The Modded Player, I also got the sound done for 37 animations from Left Hand Magic. I was aiming for 40, so I came pretty close to on target. Considering how short November came up, things are still well short of where I'd wanted to be at the end of the year overall, but I at least didn't lose much more ground in December. If I can repeat that number here in January, I'll be in decent shape with nearly 50% of the animations done before I pause the Patreon for a month to grind down the rest of them.

Meanwhile, The Modded Player also hit right on target, which means I should be able to wrap it up without too much struggle this month. I have, in fact, already started rendering for the final build of it. Though obviously I haven't gotten very far, as it's only the third and I was half taking it easy the 1st and 2nd.

So, that's the good stuff.

The less good stuff is that there's a lot to juggle in January. Not only finishing The Modded Player and tackling more sound stuff, but also getting back to the usual rotation of other rewards...and starting prep work for the actual release of Left Hand Magic's final form. Since it's intended to eventually go up on Steam (Don't worry, Patrons are still getting the final form, I haven't suddenly become an asshole ready to screw over supporters ;-)) I have to...actually figure out how to do that. Which means not just figuring it out, but prepping the Steam Store page and such.

That means I have to face the most vile and evil of beasts that is paperwork.

There's a 30-day minimum wait between setting up a developer account and submitting a game, plus a few other waiting periods involved. Plus, of course, I have to create additional assets for all the Steam bits and bobs, connect everything to the NovaGlow Studios LLC which I've been operating under while making Left Hand Magic, etcetera and so on.

Honestly, the month is looking super busy and very daunting.

That said, I'm going to at least try to hit the full reward spread this month. I'm going to reserve the possibility that the Short Story might get shut down for this month, if things get too chaotic, but I'm aiming to get the Mixed Media Reward back in action. As such, the polls for both should go up within the next couple of days. This is, at least, a 31 day month, so I have the most possible time to crunch all of this into. But we'll see how far that stretches...
