Progress Report

Alright. So, this will be the last progress report before the new build release. Hopefully, there won't be a delay notice, either. Though I will say upfront that the Short Story will not be out on time. I, to be completely honest here, haven't even looked at it. I've been too busy juggling other things. The late start in the month didn't help at all, of course, and I again underestimated the amount of time and effort it is taking to do the writing. This larger number of non-animation scenes thing is kicking my ass on the writing front.

Not nearly so badly as to cause a major (by my standards) delay this time, mind.

I just managed to finish the writing for all eight new days worth of content. It was a slog, though, and took even longer than I'd expected. I'm going to have to try shifting things more to see if there's a way to fix that, but I'm honestly thinking there won't be. As much as it might seem logical to do some of the writing earlier in the month...I have other writing commitments that are on set deadlines. The Patreon I set up a while back to split off my fanfiction is actually making as much per month as this one is now (for a fraction of the effort, I might add -_-), so I can't just move or remove those other commitments.

In reality, I'll likely just have to add at least another day or two to my planning, beyond the two days I already added. Plan to cut all rendering for Left Hand Magic off even earlier...though I honestly don't even know if that will help. That will back it into both one of the fanfiction Patreon releases and the usual writing time for the Mixed Media Short.

Ugh.

Anyway. Enough rambling about future problems. Right now, I think I'm going to be on time, or very close to it. I should be able to get the editing pass done later today/early tomorrow, then the testing tomorrow evening. Either a late night release on the 31st or an early morning one on the 1st, if nothing goes too badly wrong. That's the good news. The bad news to go with it, minor though it is, is that I don't think I'm going to be able to squeeze the extra programming time to get the Gallery for the Harem Route running.

Again.

That's frustrating, since it's really only an hour or two of work that needs doing. But that's an hour or two I'm anticipating not having. Meaning it will have to be shoved off again. Strictly speaking, it's not exactly a critical feature, particularly for the very-linear Harem Route. It still annoys me to not get it done, though...

Regardless, that's the shape of things for now. Hopefully, the next post will be the build release!

Honestly? It's going to depend on how well Left Hand Magic does when it actually goes up for sale on Steam. With this Patreon having dropped to less than half the support I used to have while I was still making Haven's Port as well, it just flat out isn't viable to continue spending so much time on making games if the Patreon is my primary source of income. If it sells even half-decently on Steam once it's cleaned up and published fully, then that's a radically different story as the income from that, combined with the Patreon income, would make it completely viable to continue. This is doubly true as I've reached the point that I need to make another large upgrade to my hardware if I want to keep going, since GPU's have gotten crazy expensive. I REALLY need to upgrade to a new card with more VRAM because of the way Daz3d works, but that's currently something like a $2000-3000 upgrade because of the crazy level scalpers have driven GPU prices too. Not to even mention that the tariff nonsense might well end up doing to the prices for the things the way the world is going.

Okay, now I am getting nervous 🥴. I know your writing is great, so I am not surprised that your fanfiction is doing well 😊. As happy as I am that you are making money, I hope this does NOT mean that you will abandon game creating, since making a game like this, is a whole lot more work 🧐.
