This Route is INSANE?! | Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel - I. Presage Flower REACTION

Fantastic movie that gave me so many questions! The quality of the animation, OSTs and SFX was out of this world, I am excited for the next one. Happy holidays to those of you who celebrate it!

For recommendations already brought up abridged earlier so still stand by that but would also highly recommend strange/fake. Only a one hour prologue ova out atm and and an early release of the first episode but season should be airing sometime in the next few seasons. Has some insanely cool ideas for servants

Marsh

I recommend watching Fate Apocrypha next, as it doesn't require any knowledge other than the main franchise. After that, you can watch Grand Order/Case Files of El Melloi, and I think Strange Fake should be the last one to watch because of the large number of references (and because it hasn't come out yet). On the other hand, you can watch Prisma Illya any time you feel like it, and I can't recommend Kara no Kyoukai enough, a series of movies from Ufotable set in the same universe as Fate. (but with a much more philosophical and psychological bent).

Eleas

Kirei just wanted Lancer as a scout so he was never meant to kill Assassin. The reverse causality effect of Gae Bolg does have a range. If someone isn't in range Lancer can simply use a long range version of Gae Bolg like he did with Archer in their second battle.

SRG

Case files of Lord El-Melloi II, you will like it because of Waver

JamesRaynor

I'd definitely recommend watching Fate Strange fake! It's the newest fate anime and its very good! Fate Apocrypha is a good high action anime, with lots of big spectacular battles, at the cost of a worse plot

WiredLearner

Personally I'd vote for Prisma Illya next, both it and Today's Menu for the Emiya Family explore more of the current Stay Night cast. The other spin-offs are mostly completely new characters and settings.

Talix Rune

I definitely recommend watching the Fate Strange Fake OVA Whispers of Dawn if you want to ride the hype train, since the series is going to premiere in the end of December

Nightshade

Take a drink every time Matt calls Shirou Shinji and we'll be dead by Christmas LOL

I'll probably edit this comment as i watch further! Yeah, all the routes are identical until a few days before Saber gets summoned. There are some choices you can make in the days leading up to Saber's summoning (and one crucial one during the initial confrontation with Rin and Archer) that determines which route you're on. Though you have to play the Fate route to unlock UBW, and then play UBW to unlock Heaven's Feel. The relevant options just don't appear, if you've not yet unlocked a route, i believe. Relevant to Heavens Feel: Shirou didn't use a command spell to stop Saber from attacking Archer like in UBW, so Archer was injured and out of comission for a few days, notably in the fight against Berserker. That's why that fight went quite differently. It's also why we don't really see Archer until like an hour into the movie. Not going to talk about your theories about Assassin, I'm not 100% sure but I think we get a little more about this in later movies. For the cause and effect reverseal, Gae Bolg needs to be pretty close to the target, i believe, it definitely has a range. Maybe a few meters, I'd guess - You could quickly run away once you see Lancer activating it, I think. Gae Bolg's other attack, the one Lancer used against Archer in UBW when Rin,Shirou and Lancer attacked Caster at the church, can be used at range, as the spear is thrown then. That attack is AoE, but doesn't have the cause-and-effect reversal shenanigans. And yeah, Lancer has the personal Skill Protection from Arrows. it's not a Lancer class skill, but something specific to Cu Chulainn. Btw, Aimer sings the three ending songs for the movies, i especially like the second one.

Like I said before, imo none of the other spinoffs are as good as the "main series" to me, but each series does have parts that I think are worth watching the whole thing for so I'm looking forward to whatever you choose. The one that I will mention, since I'm sure everyone will be bringing up everything anyways is... if one of your favourite parts of Fate so far has been meeting the characters and finding out what historical figure they are, I think there's nothing better than Apocrypha to watch next... it's *in general* more of the same, new characters, new servants, pretty cool fights, an OP by LiSA even which is a banger as expected. Grand Order is also good for that also though, and starting that with the TV Special -First Order- to get an idea of what's going on is what I'd recommend. Grand Order I think is meant to be followed in release order so far, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong... I honestly haven't watched them all the way through yet lol, I played it instead. Anyways, back to the reaction!

Guys please avoid spoiling or correcting him when he says something wrong and it’s revealed later on

Shinji is affectionately refered to, everywhere, as Wakame! Wakame being Japanese for Seaweed for his wavy hair lol

Quick note: Karyia wasn't trying to do good for a selfish reason, but rather once his other goals and attributes were striped away by the Grail War and manipulators like Gilgamesh and Mr. Yorokobe Shounen then all that was left was his selfish reason. So! He was a genuinely good guy, but the extraordinary circumstances he was put through and made to endure like a puppet invariably twisted him. Also, the Heaven's Feel route is the True End/Route, as Mr. Mushroom Man himself confessed. The biggest note that should be kept in mind is that the Heaven's Feel route is by far the longest and most complex route in the Fate/Stay Night visual novel, which means a ***lot*** of stuff sadly has to be condensed into a 6 hour runtime compared to the 10 hours that UBW received. But don't let that linger as you watch along! They did their best in this adapation and definitely attempted to give it the best treatment with full movie quality production as you normally would with the True End/Final Route/Climax of anything! Ufotable does *Not* sit down when it comes to quality! (but they do dodge taxes)

Regarding the spin-offs: All of them are pretty good imo, though for different reasons. And imo none of them are as good as the "main" story. But my two favorites are: 1) Today's Menu for the Emiya Family: A very short slice-of-life cooking anime with the Fate/stay night cast. It's very cute and wholesome, and if you want to see more of the Fate/stay night cast, this is great. 2) The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II. This stars Waver at the Clock Tower, and it is more of a detective/mystery show (with magic, obviously). Really cool characters here, quite different from the "usual" Fate shows. From what i have seen (the pilot episode and the dubbed episode 1) of Fate/strange fake, it looks really great, but it's only starting in January (I think?! could be completely wrong). Now, to watch the reaction to Heavens Feel 1 :D
