Progress Report

Wait...my last progress report was six days ago?! Oops? No, seriously, I thought it was only four going on five! Sorry about that folks, I apparently got busy enough to outright lose track of days!

Anyway, as for actual progress...

Left Hand Magic

Good news, good news, mixed news, possible bad news? So, on a positive note, I'm done with rendering/post-processing both and will be starting on programming tonight. On a second positive note, I've actually managed a surprising number of minor and major fixes to old animations. I think there will be...five? Five-ish animations that get replaced with redone versions which improve them either a little or a lot.

The mixed news is that part of the reason I made more progress there is that I finally did a full survey of what needs fixing. I did this because I'm finally properly in touch and making some progress with the buddy of mine I mentioned who I'm hoping to have redo a lot of the sound for the game. That won't see much actual affect until next month's update. But the project is at least getting underway. Hopefully, March's update will include the first wave of animations that have actual good, matching sound for the various scenes. It's always been one of the weak points of the game.

Less awesomely, doing that survey (which needed doing so I didn't give said person animations that were going to be replaced/fixed), revealed a lot more issues than I'd expected. The early game, in particular, is lousy with them as I didn't know what I was doing very well yet on the animation front. I've concentrated a lot of the current improvements in the latter parts of the game just to clear a section out completely for the sound guy to start on. I'm going to need to spend a fair bit more time than expected on overhauls though, ugh.

The bad news is that getting sort of side tracked creating the needed project files for said sound guy also slowed my total progress for the month down. Right now, there's at least a chance I'll still get everything out on time. Which is why the bad news is only 'possible.' Given how freaking short February is, though...I'm kinda half expecting to overrun by a day or two this time. As always, I'll try not to, and I'll keep any overrun as minimal as possible. But I wanted to make you all aware it might happen and why.

Short Story

So, I've made enough progress on this that I'm fairly sure that I'll finish the writing tonight. Meaning I should be able to give it an editing pass and post it tomorrow. Later in the month than I wanted, but it is what it is. I think it's coming out pretty good, at least.

Mixed Media Short

This got slowed down, a lot. Enough that I cut my originally intended number of renders (and length of this section of Virtual Trap) down slightly (there are still 19 renders, though). Still, the last render of the revised version finished while I was sleeping, and I should be able to post-process them tonight. That will mean I don't even start on the writing until tomorrow (which I'd hoped to release it by). Hopefully, I can squeeze finishing it around working on Left Hand Magic over the next few days and get it out by the 26th or 27th? We'll see. Have I mentioned I hate how short this month is yet? Because I absolutely do. The monks that made the calendar we all live by have some explaining to do about their life choices...
