Progress Report

Okay! It's been a bit longer than it should have been, between Progress Reports. But that was mostly because there were a couple of other bits posted between then and now. Regardless of that, let's dive in, shall we?

Left Hand Magic

Right now, I'm pretty happy with where I am with this. Renders are essentially done, though I am currently re-rending one set of Revina's animations with a minor change. Since it was a very minor change (just altering some color), it was easy to just set going on the render box and let run while I'm working on other bits. Since the render machine is essentially idle at the moment, there was no real harm in that, and the issue in question was annoying the heck out of me. Seriously, whoever made the the asset in question made the super-modern looking fucking machine have a WOODEN dildo, and I didn't realize it when I first made the animations. What both the actual and theoretical fuck?

ANYWAY. That aside, I'm actually taking a break from doing the post-processing on all the renders/animations to write up this progress report. I'm about 50% done with said post-processing at the moment. I should be easily able to finish it tonight, as well as work on a bit of story for Andrea of the Silver Key (hopefully). Tomorrow, I'll start coding for the release, which will be about the typical time I'd start. I'll have a better idea on time table in a few days, but for now things seem to be going well. Particularly as...drum roll please?

I actually got a cheat system working over the weekend! For now, it will be a file provided for $10+ patrons that they can just drop into the game folder. It will allow players to enable/disable a set of + and - signs on the Relationship scores and Sub/Dom points. Next build, I'll be trying to add in an Enable/Disable feature for each Route as well, so they can be unlocked at any time. But I'm happy with getting what I have working now done over the weekend. Long-term, I'll also want to figure out how to avoid needing to drop in a file. Which might mean moving where the Enable/Disable button is. 

Right now, since it's embedded into the Relationship Menu, trying to create a Input/Output for the player to input a code to enable was not a good idea. At the same time, trying to manipulate in-game variable from Renpy's default right-click menu seems like a bad idea, as it could result in the variable being set when it doesn't exist yet.  I'll likely have to create a separate screen to call, in the MC's apartment maybe. But that was a bit much for the initial creation of the system. It took most of Sunday to get what I have working, working, as I had to take a deeper dive into how parts of Renpy's code works in order to make it function. Regardless, I'm pleased to finally get something functional in the direction of Cheats.

Short Story

This is the only other thing left to release this month. Sadly, I didn't get the start on it I'd hoped to over the weekend. The real issue here is that I need to re-read all the existing content to refresh my memory on it and brainstorm. I know generally what I had planned to do with the story. But it's been so long since I touched Andrea of the Silver Key that I'm not confident I can write the characters without reviewing what I've already written. That, after the post-processing and my day job stuff (ugh), is my primary goal for the night. I'm hoping to have at least a solid plan/outline and a few initial snippets tonight, then hammer at it whenever I have a spare moment while working on the game release...
