September Short Story 2 - A New Business Model

Alright! As I mentioned yesterday in the Progress Report, I actually managed to finish the draft of this short last weekend. I just hadn't wanted to spare the hour to edit it when I was trying to rush the Haven's Port release. Since I had to admit it's going to be a day or so late (see the Progress Report linked for details), it made sense to me to take the time to at least get this out. That way it's only Haven's Port that's late, with all other rewards being on time. And Haven's Port shouldn't be more than a day or two behind schedule unless something goes horribly wrong. Like hurricane Ian teleporting into the middle of the country instead of staying down in Florida or something. (And if any of you are down there, be safe! It looks bad! Also like a fantastic time to take a vacation anywhere not there. Like Kansas. Nice, empty, no oceans. Torandos most aim for trailer parks, not whole cities. And if Superman suddenly becomes real, you can do say hi. Just saying...)

Anyway, this short story is...probably a One-Shot? Honestly, it was a bit of an odd departure from my usual style. A lot more tell and a lot less show. Which is normally a bad thing. In this case, I think it sort of worked, though? Since the idea of the the 'New Business Model' involved with the story is as much the hot/titillating part as the actual action? Like I said, a bit of an odd experiment, though one I think turned out at least halfway decent. I'll probably stick an option in the next poll for more of it, just to give it a fair shot, but then drop it out of the polls and leave it as a one-shot if it doesn't do well...

For those curious after you read it, by the by, it was inspired by two things:

1) I actually searched in the past for the same thing Lana did, for similar reasons, and was similarly confused it didn't exist. Honestly, I'm still baffled it doesn't exist.

2) The Frozen Inc series of little comics/art pieces by Aroma Sensei. Not at all direct inspiration, since I didn't want to involve Disney Princesses (Disney's Lawyers scare me, thank you very much). But I gave Lana the same sort of general Energy I feel that Elsa has in those stories.
