Progress Report

Quick reminder first! Make sure to vote in the Haven's Port Focus Poll if you haven't already!

And with that out of the way...time for a progress report! Left Hand Magic is the only thing left to do this month, so we'll get right into it. Which is good...because I'm mildly freaking out about how slow the coding for it is going -_-.

I know coding/writing for Left Hand Magic is way more time consuming than for any other game I've made for this patreon. Like, way more time consuming. That said, despite my best efforts to make sure I have enough time, it seems like I underestimate the task every single time. I arranged to have a nearly full week this time, give or take a day...and I'm still not completely certain I'm going to make it? I'm only maybe 35% done with the code. And then I have to do writing, an edit, various minor fixes, then testing and bug fix...

That said, don't panic yet! Which is what I'm repeatedly telling myself at the moment. I almost always get a bit more done on the weekends than any other time, and I've only actually had one full day to code so far. Thursday was actually dedicated pretty much entirely to post-processing and prepping/converting the animations, with only a very small amount of coding getting done. So Friday night to this morning is the only span I've seriously had to do coding with so far. With the weekend now here, there's a decent chance I can get all the core coding and writing done by Monday morning. That would leave the next day for the gallery, which is time consuming but not difficult, plus maybe a little editing. Then editing/testing through the morning of the 31st. With final tweaks and upload late evening on the 31st.

The problem of course is that said plan is very tight. It's entirely possible to do. But even one major issue or unexpected delay popping up could push us over the deadline. Normally, I wouldn't worry too much about that, a day or so slipping is something I try not to stress over (and mostly fail, admittedly, I inevitable feel like I didn't budget time well enough when it happens). Unfortunately, as I mentioned in a previous update, I'm going to be more or less kicked out of my residence for the 1st and 2nd for new carpet to be installed. I'll have my laptop with me, but no access to my other hardware. Which means, if there is a delay...that delay may stretch as long as the 3rd.

I'll do my very best to avoid that happening! I just want to make sure everyone is aware of the possibility of a deadline wiff. If nothing serious goes wrong, there's still every probability that I'll be able to release on time. So, cross your fingers and hope nothing serious goes wrong, I guess?
