Sandbox, VN.. explanation, plans and why.

Hello everyone.

When you play Simple Days you will find changes. From v.0.4.0 your character moves to Mohoro... and the games switches from just VN (visual novel) to sandbox style.

Is this mean grind which we all hate? Why's the change? Why not continue the good story telling?

Well.. here is the explanation.

With the story progressing, more characters appear.

When you have a choice.. the story splits .. and again and again.

Normal visual novels are with a limited characters or/and choices. You, the player, have to follow the wish of the writer. You do not have any control or it is really limited.

If you want to date a girl and the writer don't.. guess what... you will never have a story with her.

If you want to spend some time somewhere  and the writer doesn't consider it at all.. well.. you will never have progress there.

The only way everyone to create his/her own story, date the girl(s) which YOU like... that is possible only in a free open world game. Sandbox.

Not that kind of sandbox, full with grind repetitive actions... but a sandbox type, open world game where every place is full with stories.

Now, YOU will have choice to date, visit and progress on YOUR way.. to write YOUR own story.

Is it TONS of work for me? Yes, it is! But you don't care if I have to work day and night, right? So, let me take care of the work and you enjoy of your story.

Hope this post will be helpful to you in case you wonder what is going on. The visual novel continue with visual novel style... but with many possibilities, places and characters inside this new open world (sandbox).

Comments

Thank you Troy Leong for your comment. You are absolutely right. That is why I will not use standard sandbox type for creating game. I will fill each place with stories and will not count on player go here and there. Right now you cannot see it yet, because was too much coding and less story... but soon You will see the different. Thank you so much for your support.

Problem with sandbox style... 95% of the time, you're bouncing around trying to find the next cutscene/interaction. You never know where to go, unless you have a hint system in place to help the player along. So if you input something like that, people wouldn't bitch so much about being in a sandbox.
