Progress Report - Various

----------------------

Important Reminder! The polls to determine which game will follow up Chastity Quest are underway! There are polls for both the Public and Patrons Only. Make sure you vote! The results for the Patron Poll in particular are currently tied, so every vote definitely matters!

----------------------

With that super-important (seriously, please vote!) reminder out of the way, progress report time!

Chastity Quest:

I've now finished implementation of all three endings to the game (Dom, Sub, and Default). All that remains for them is to pick out some music and edit them. Which means, all that's left is to get as many scenes crammed into the island area as possible. Only about 5 scenes are actually critical, but I'm aiming to at around 15-16 in order to flesh out that last Major Area a bit more. I'll be starting on asset capture for a batch of 8-10 tonight.

Comic:

I've got maybe a third of the images done? Not quite where I wanted to be on it, but I've got some extra time over the next couple of days, so I'm hoping to catch up a bit. The issue here, unusually, isn't the lack of render time so much as it is me not being exactly sure what I want to do with the story. I knew the basic plot, of course, but I could only do so many of the renders based on that basic plot without filling in the rest of the details. And I've been run ragged enough by life the universe and everything to get an unusual degree of writer's block. If I can't solve that in the next few days, I'll shift over to the short story and finish that first, then come back to the comic.

Short Story:

At the brainstorming stage. Reviewing my notes and sketching on the next bit of the story more fully. Thankfully, this is something I had planned more details of, it's just been a few months so I need to get my head back to what I was doing with Andrea of the Silver Key. Shouldn't be a big issue, just another thing that takes time and concentration.

Animation Tests!

In spare moments, I've been continuing to poke at the animation I made, solving some technical hurdles. It's still purely technical testing, figuring out the process, but I've basically completed that stage now, with this being the final test result:

Final Test Result

Keep in mind that this was purely a technical process test. So what you're seeing there is literally the minimum quality that the animations for the new game will have. Essentially, what I've been playing with since last time was just simple compositing. It's nothing fancy, but it's something I didn't know how to do, even if I knew it was possible. There was a bit of a learning curve, I ended up having to re-render both the animation and the background it's composited on like 3 times each. But, that was the whole point. I've been figuring out the method I need to make animations possible. And I think everyone will agree that I've gotten there, even if the test animation is super simple. Even better, I got the render time down to something fairly manageable. About 5-6 hours for both the background and 60 frames worth of character animation. Obviously, that doesn't include the time it takes to build each animation, but at least the render time once I do won't be horrifying. Though, of course, results will vary based on complexity.

Comments

Thankfully, I did get over the writer's block at least! Progress is going reasonably well, if slowly, on the comic.
