New Game Concept 3 - Left Hand Magic

Greetings everyone! It's finally time for the third of the game concepts. This one got a little delayed because, frankly, I wasn't happy with the third sample. Actually, I'm still not happy with the third sample, but dragging my feet any longer was going to cause problems. Sufficient it to say, that the 'Street View' sample isn't as cool looking as I was going for. I re-rendered it with different lighting setups about a dozen times and still don't consider it usable. Still, it will get the point across. Now, before I get into the nitty-gritty details, I actually have two things I want to mention here about this concept.

First is the art. Like with Game Concept 2 - The Starship Promise, I intend to try a different art style with this one. TRY being the operative word. I'll be putting the art style up to vote if it wins, with either game, so don't worry too much over it if you prefer the photo-real style. All of that said, unlike with The Starship Promise, I wasn't able to provide you with immediate samples of the alternate art possibility. The reason for this, bluntly put, is because the Photoshop Actions and Filter set I want to use to achieve the art alterations are premium content. As in, they cost money. Since I'm already pretty far overbudget just for making all three sets of samples (>_<,) I can't justify buying them unless this game wins the poll. So...just keep that in mind. The alternate art style I would be hoping to achieve is something closer to the cartoon/anime/painting style often seen in VNs.

Second...I'm going to just come right out and say this. This is my favorite of the three game concepts. It may actually be the hardest to do right, because it will lean heavily on my writing ability to really make it shine...but that's honestly one of my strengths. Or at least, I'd like to think so. Do not misunderstand, all three concepts were the survivors of something like a dozen I had written out. I like all of them and will happily make any of the three. This one is simply the one I like the most out of the trio. Even if the margin isn't huge.

Thirdly. The title for this one is a work in progress. Not 100% happy with it. Partly because I vaguely remember a book titled something similar and I don't want to get into copyright trouble. No, it's not inspired by that book. In point of fact, this game was actually loosely inspired by a hentai manga with a very long name. Though it won't be a copy of that manga by any means. Not only do I much prefer to make my worlds as original as possible, but there were also some storytelling issues with that Manga. Not to mention the presence of legal lolis which always kinda creeps me out a bit. Still a fun manga though. Now, onwards to the actual game description!

One note of warning!
Everything involved with this description is extremely early concept stuff and subject to change. You will, in fact, note that some bits aren't even fully defined. This is on account of the fact that I can't just buy assets willy-nilly for all the possibilities of each game. I have a few sample assets to use for each concept, with more to be added only once a single game is chosen.

------------------------Left Hand Magic-----------------------

With a sigh, you delete the message from your recording crystal and try not to let the bitterness well up inside you. Another rejection. You've been working entry-level service industry and menial jobs since you graduated the academy, and even those have sometimes been hard to come by. So much for the prestige of graduating top of your class from one of the finest magical institutions in the kingdom.

Well, to be fair, it's not like you don't know what the problem is. You were warned, after all. Many times, in fact.

The simple truth of the matter is that...you're the wrong kind of wizard. As little as two centuries ago, being born with incredible natural talent for battle magics would have led you to a life of riches and fame. Armies and adventuring parties alike would have vied for you to join them! Sadly...that hasn't been true for quite a few years now. Well, quite a few years by human standards at least.

With the invention of things like the Fire Lance, any fool can be a soldier and the world has few uses left for adventurers. Most monsters are extinct or civilized now, dungeons long since looted and destroyed, the wilds of the world largely tamed. Healing and creation magics are still as popular as ever. Enchanters are in high demand! But...no one really needs someone who can fling fire, ice and lightning.

Mustering the energy to play the next message, the next rejection...you blink as an actual voice plays, rather than the bored tones of someone's summons. You listen to the voice with growing incredulity...who is Left Hand Engineering Solutions, and why does their CEO what to personally meet you?!

Setting: This concept needs a bit of explanation as to the setting, whereas the others didn't. While the other two games are straight Sci-Fi and thus easy to envision...Left Hand Magic is not. Instead, this concept is set in a Fantasy World...one that has already gone through its own equivalent of the Industrial Revolution. This world has Elves, Gnomes, Centaur's, and so on...but it also uses summons as telemarketers, the computers run on magic, and cars can fly because there was an air elemental involved during construction. This is a 'modern' setting, but one FOCUSED on magic and magitek, with plenty of fantasy races and oddly mix-matched technology levels caused by the world going down a very different route to our boring mundane one.

Story: While trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible. The basic premise of the story is that the poor MC, who is a talented battle wizard in an era where such magics are not in demand anymore, is approached by an oddball company that is trying to make magics like his viable again. Not by causing conflict, but by trying to find positive ways to use not just battle magic...but also other sorts of 'Left Hand Magic' like necromancy or blood magic.

Major Characters:

 The CEO:

Race: Currently Uncertain. I'd like to make her a Tiefling, but haven't found a suitable asset yet. A succubus or Drow are possible alternatives.

Description: Extremely cheerful and driven...but with wildly varying skill levels. She's amazing with people, but not so much with numbers, resulting in drastic measures being needed to get her to actually do the company's books. She herself is a warlock, who founded the company after realizing that there was really still quite a lot of ways to use things like elemental magic to improve the lives of others.

The Mechanist:

Race: Elf! She's the elven redhead featured in the attached image.

Description: A total gearhead! A genius with magical machines and magitek of all sorts, but with a tendency to get distracted by them and lose track of the days...or weeks...or years. Has a slightly bad habit of bringing the machines she likes the most to life. May or may not include her sex toys...(hint: It totally does...)

The Necromancer:

Race: Undead Lich! She's the pale white gothic lass in the image samples!

Description: A necromancer who was trying...and technically succeeded...to find a way to give humans a lifespan similar to elves, without doing anything immoral in the process. She created an entirely new version of the Lich process, succeeding in retaining her bodily functions after becoming a Lich. Unfortunately, she overlooked the fact that undead don't actually have any legal rights! Technically 'owned' by the company, though no one treats her that way. She's still determined to perfect her process and get it acknowledged, but in the meantime works for Left Hand Engineering as a way to improve the way necromancers are seen by the public!

The Blood Mage:

Race: Undecided

Description: Seemingly the most normal of your new coworkers, but a little shy. Unlike the others, she had a successful career as a contract lawyer before joining the company, leaving you to wonder why she's so dedicated to this group of misfits? She seems extremely close to a certain necromancer...

What Type of Game is This?

This game is a flat-out, straightforward Visual Novel. Given my dislike of railroading people through a story, there will likely be plenty of side-actions you can take without negatively impacting the route you're on...but there WILL be actual firm routes through the game (Including a harem route). The current plan is that there will a primary route for each girl, at least two Threesome combination routes, and a harem route which is only unlockable in New Game+. Of the three games, this one will also be the most story-heavy/story-centric. There is an actual honest-to-hentai plot and endings

Kink/Fetish Content

This game will feature the following for absolutely sure:

Chastity Play with at least one major character

Bondage Content with multiple characters

Threesomes/Harem Content

Transformation Content (Magic is available in this setting, making this easier)

This game MAY include the following content type as well:

Futa Content (subject to voting)

Comments

I'm glad you think so! That's partly what I'm aiming for, in fact. I have zero intention of leaving out adult content, there will be plenty of it and be an influential part of character development. But I'd really like a strong enough story to be compelling on its own for once, rather than JUST a game you play for the express purpose of...eh...enjoying the challenge of one-handed gaming...

Novus

Nice concept... That actually feels like it would be an interesting game even without the added incentive of adult content. Hope it makes it!
