Critical Update - F$^&ery has happened

Shit.

Shit shit shit shit...

Sigh.

OKAY, PROOF THAT NOVUS'S LUCK IS TERRIBLE SOMETIMES INCOMING.

I was cruising away, with 5/7 of the Dates finished for Haven's Port. I was easily going to manage to finish the dates before I crashed, so my revised one day delay time table was more than enough time. THEN I stepped away from Laptop for a couple of minutes, only to come back to it dead as a doorknob.

Okay, don't panic yet! Trust me, I panicked enough for all of us.

After about half an hour of said panicking, I was eventually able to figure out that the laptop had shut down do to being critically low on power. While...plugged in. Remembering that I'd heard an electronic pop a few hours previously, but couldn't figure out where it had come from at the time, I got to checking...anddddddd it's the freaking power supply/adapter that died. Hopefully, that's all that died. I've already put in a rush order to Amazon for a replacement that they claim can be here same-day.

Unfortunately, what I don't have, is a backup of the current TWINE file I was working on. Oh, a backup exists! It's just...on the internal backup storage drive of the laptop. Doh. I back them up elsewhere at the end of each day, but not before then, and I've done a LOT of work on the file since the last backup. It would take multiple days to recreate everything from the last external backup I have. Equally unfortunately, I don't have the right kind of external drive enclosure needed to pull the laptop drive and plug it into my other PC on hand. I did have one such adapter, but it bit the dust a few months back and I used it so infrequently that I never bothered to replace the thing. 

Now, I have a plan! I can't finish the date content without access to the TWINE file I was using. But I can start hammering out some of the chats, which is what tomorrow was going to be all about. So IF Amazon comes through for me and delivers the new power supply later today like they claim they will, and IF the power supply is the only issue, than there is an excellent chance that there will still only be the single day of delay there was already going to be. Unfortunately, that's a significant pair of ifs.

WORST case scenario (aside from me suddenly dying or something) will be that I have to acquire a suitable HDD enclosure, pull the internal backup drive from the laptop (which is a pain in the ass), and copy the files over to my desktop to finish things. If that happens, we may be looking at a couple more days of unavoidable delay. Also, if the Laptop is actually dead instead of just low on power, we'll have major issues coming up for other reasons. Buuutt, not going to worry about that just yet. For now, the focus is to get the update out to all of you as soon as possible.

Again, I apologize for the possible delay. But this one, at least, is well and truly beyond my ability to have done anything about :-(.
