Added 2016-10-28 06:17:57 +0000 UTCSo I do my first draft of a thumbnail on paper, in these little 6x9 sketchbooks. I have a stack of them on my desk, one for each different series. (I plan on giving the Persephone one away as the top tier prize in the Kickstarter campaign when the comic goes to print!) I started doing this earlier this year, and it has made the whole process so much easier. However, TQ is on a 8.5x11 canvas. Something that looks really good on 6x9 doesn't necessarily fit on 8.5x11 the right way. It's nice that it won't be a problem anymore.
ANYWAY-- so I spent today just drawing in TQ's sketchbook. Drawing new clothes. Architecture. Characters. I'm gonna use a new book for future TQ thumbnails, so this one is now concept art. Already I've been able to cut out a bunch of unnecessary colors. Zusufula will no longer have the beard tails. They were on a whim to begin with and I would pity anyone ever trying to cosplay him with those things. You can't make that look good.
