As a mouse, it was important to keep bigger, fiercer friends around...but...a cat?

Your mouse friends would surely have opinions on that one...

"Well..." you'd reasoned, "...he's not exactly the brightest crayon in the box. Plus, he likes me! What do I have to lose?"

And like you, he did!

"Hehhe-! What a cute mouse!" he'd said.

"I love mice!....Oh, no-no. Not to eat! I've just never met a mean mouse! They've always made great friends!"

Certainly the big guy was desperate for friendship if he were exchanging pleasantries with a lowly mouse like you. Maybe other cats had found him too strange to befriend?

Nonetheless, the rusty-furred feline had just saved your life.

You sunk into his soft, round belly where he'd gingerly placed your fragile, trembling body. You heard his belly growl and churn beneath you, the vibrations had sent a shiver straight up your spine. And yet, a sense of relief had washed over you, knowing this big guy wouldn't send you in there. However, knowing that he could effortlessly swallow you whole and end your life stirred something within you...

..And with that, the two of you talked into the night:

You learned his name was Tiger, and that he left behind everything he knew to pursue a relationship with a lovely she-cat...

Unfortunately, that relationship never blossomed...

"Tiger...?"

You stand within the broad, 3-toed print of your feline "boyfriend".

It seemed he had recently been here, yet was nowhere to be seen.

You sigh.

You explicitly instructed the massive, needy tom to keep away from your colony for everyone's sake. Instead, the two of you would often meet up in secret.

So then, why were his prints so close to your colony...?

"Yeah...not the brightest crayon in the box" you mutter.

With a shake of your head, you turn to see a fuzzy mass not far from the paw indentation where you stand.

"Tiger!" you shout to the hulking form.

The cat was getting dangerously close, and appeared distracted, as if he were searching for someone.

...Most likely-

"Tiger!! Please-! Don't step on me!!" your lungs strain.

You wave your arms above your head in a vain attempt to grab his attention.

Stupefied, you watch in horror as Tiger's left foot looms over your head. The feline's plump sole blocks out the sun as it makes it way toward you...

Countless thoughts race through your mind:

Would this be the last thing you see...?

Would you survive being compressed into the earth by your gargantuan boyfriend's meaty pads?

Would your colony find out about...your thing with Tiger?

At the very least, if this were to be your last breath, at least it would be taken by someone you loved.
