So the rasengan is the base, amplified by let say wind nature, formed over a laughing spear for some killer piercing power … Just thinking out loud here

The Rasengan being “Naruto’s thing” really isn’t as relevant in this fanfic. Unlike canon Naruto, DS Naruto has way more on his plate. He has 69 spells from Dark Souls to learn, multiple weapon arts, mastery of all five elemental ninjutsu, Wood Release, and on top of that, his own unique applications of chakra by combing stuff with magic. He is already overflowing with techniques. Because of that, even if I give Sasuke and Sakura the Rasengan, it does not take anything away from DS Naruto. In fact, his version is already distinct: he has magic Rasengans and ways to combine it with things no one else in the story can. So in practice, Sasuke and Sakura learning the basic Rasengan does not make Naruto less special, it just gives them a foundation to develop their own unique styles. The way I see it, this actually helps balance the team. Sakura and Sasuke are not simply copy-pasting Naruto’s abilities; they’re taking inspiration and turning the Rasengan into tools that reflect their strengths. For example, Sakura could evolve it into something tied to her natural genjutsu talent or chakra control via adding the shape manipulation of rasengan to her barriers, while Sasuke could fuse it with his lightning nature for something more lethal and assassin-like. Naruto will still have his own path, and they will have theirs. So don’t worry—Naruto will never lose his individuality or importance. If anything, giving Sakura and Sasuke access to the Rasengan highlights just how far ahead Naruto really is, while also making the rest of Team 7 capable of keeping up in meaningful ways. They aren’t really designed to be launched as projectiles, which makes fusing them with arrows kind of awkward. On the other hand, applying that combo to swords fits much better, since DS Naruto at his core is still a swordsman. As for the arrows, don’t worry. I already have something unique planned for them that’ll come into play during the Chunin Exams.

The way I keep it under control isn’t by nerfing them, but by shaping the plot so their growth doesn’t erase tension. Yeah, Naruto’s OP, but the plot ensures that he still struggles. In the Elemental Nations, it isn’t just about strength—politics, clan conflicts, and dangerous opponents like Gaara or other exam candidates keep the stakes high. My Chunin Exams, for example, are more like a mini Fourth War, with every village bringing their strongest. That way, the challenge isn’t “Can Naruto punch harder?” but “Can he outthink, outlast, and carry responsibility when the whole system is stacked against him?” In Lordran, Drangleic, and Lothric, the challenge is baked into the setting itself. So instead of worrying about numbers scaling endlessly, I focus on building story arcs where the conflict rises to meet the characters. Power is just one tool in Naruto’s hands. The real tension comes from what the plot forces him to risk, to choose, and to carry.

2025-09-18 05:25:21 +0000 UTCI totally get where you’re coming from, since the Rasengan is such an iconic jutsu for Naruto in canon. But that’s mostly because canon Naruto really only had shadow clones and Rasengan as his core techniques. Compared to that, DS Naruto actually uses the Rasengan way less. In fact, the only real kill he has with it so far is the giant rat. Most of the time he’d rather rely on other jutsu or spells or his weapons. So in this version, keeping Rasengan as just “Naruto’s thing” doesn’t really mean as much. Plus, as I mentioned in the author note, he’s also going to get Chidori which is usually tied to Sasuke. On top of that, DS Naruto is already miles ahead of Team 7 in terms of raw power. Giving Rasengan variants to other characters actually gives them more unique tools to stand beside him, instead of always being overshadowed.

2025-09-17 20:24:14 +0000 UTCI like the idea of the team all learning rasengan and developing their own versions i woukd also like to suggest having naruto develop an armor version of rasengan that acts like a second skin have it be a inch or two past his clothes or armor or wrap his weapon with it and it would be both defensive and offensive if someone attacked him even if they broke through they would still suffer damage and it would greatly improve his taijutsu it would alao damage and potentially break enemy weapons
