Author Note: Question for You Guys

Hey everyone! I wanted to get your thoughts on something.

In the last chapter, a comment about the Wave Arc feeling dragged out got me thinking. Personally, I didn’t see it that way since we've been focusing on Naruto’s journey through Lordran, but if some of you feel that way, I want to find a good solution.

So, here’s my proposal: longer chapters.

Right now, I usually write 3.5k to 4k words daily, but if we bump that up to 8k–10k words, we could finish the Wave Arc in about a week.

To do that, though, I’d have to merge both Dark Souls and Naruto segments into single, larger chapters.

Would you guys prefer longer, faster-paced chapters to wrap things up sooner, or are you happy with the current pacing?

Let me know what you think!

It's a good flow in my view, and everyone should feel lucky I'm not the author since I would have personally made a cliffhanger when Naruto and Hinata exited stage left off of the bridge and laughed myself sick for a month before continuing.

It feels like it's dragged out but not really, like we've been in the wave arc for a bit but only because Narutos jumping back and forth (which isn't a bad thing, i like it).

As long as you feel like your work isn't suffering, do what ya want. I ain't the driver, I'm just a passenger along for the ride.

Yes

bit long winded but its just to say I like the way the story is paced as is, and I personally think that if you were to combine the two worlds for longer chapters I'd like it but please don't cut out your detailed work in either world to satisfy what I'm assuming are the vocal minority. Another solution to help the flow of time in wave feel faster is release two chapters every Naruto day, that way you wouldn't have to change the world title dynamic you have going. Even if only until we're past this part of the story.

While I tend to enjoy longer chapters overall, I believe your current chapter length for the type of story you've set up works. You gave warning when this Fic began that the story would progress with chapters being devoted to each world, so it's not as if this wasn't to be expected at some point. It probably only feels dragged out for some because this is the first time we've seen Naruto out on a mission; this constant back and forth between Lordran and Wave has made the experience feel somewhat dragged out. However, Naruto is very much in a period of discovery both as a squire and a ninja, hell even as a person, so his desire to explore Lordran and grow stronger/escape from his feelings most definitely makes sense for his character at this point in time. If I had to give a recommendation it'd be that you should consider how eventful each trip into Lordran should be, so far you've devoted a lot of word count to the actual exploration and fights in Lordran, decreasing this for efficiency could be a decent way to chew through the eun-important sections of Lordan if you do decide to combine both Worlds in upcoming chapters. Mind you I've enjoyed that immensely, especially what with how Naruto's skillset breeds opportunity in the Dark Souls world; for example the way the world reacts to chakra. It's a difficult position to be in as an author to want to write the best story possible while at the same time catering to people's worries. I prefer a better-written story in the end so I would request you to choose whichever solution best presents that ending in your eyes.

The feeling might came from the fact Naruto is wandering in Lordran for some time. It's true that the arc is long but there no part that feel unnecessary. At least for the Nauto part. I know almost nothing of Dark Soul and everything is a discovery but I think you do a good job here as well. As long as you don't skip the interactions and charactere developpement, I'm fine with whatever.

I like the chapters as they are right now, but I do like the longer ones that you have been posting on Spacebattles. Honestly, Spacebattles is a happy medium for me regarding chapter lengths.

Mystbornwolf

i wouldn't say no to longer chapters but I'm with what you are comfortable with.

Personally I like the current format. Longer chapters would be nice but I don’t mind either way.

Natural

I do enjoy the current format, but I will say that most chapters felt cut off or stopped abruptly at the end. As a reader I generally prefer longer chapters to digest, but each chapter currently comes off as a single idea and this can disrupt the flow. Overall I would like longer chapters but the current format does work. About the wave arc in general it does feel like it’s dragging, and I think its because when naruto is in lordan nothing seems to progress in wave, and vice versa. This is justified when Naruto is in wave because the nature of lordan allows nothing to happen because naruto has to make things happen due to the stagnation and time distortion. In wave things should progress without Naruto as everyone there has their own agency. A good example is when naruto was in lordan for three days and nothing seems to happen. There really should have some external conflict, or at least more than what was presented. Just to be clear I greatly enjoy your work and I am glad to read it.

Agreed 👍

I vote longer chapters

Michel Smith

I would always rather longer chapters. I think it would be nice to wrap up this arc quicker. Just my opinion, but I’ve always thought the wave arc was a drag.

Marcus serpa

I would prefer the longer chapters so we can wrap up the arc.

Erik Houk

That fine with me a love lounger chapter s

bone lord

Do you want 10k-word chapters so we can wrap up the Wave Arc in a few chapters ( 4 to 5 days ), or would you rather stick with the 4k-word pace, which might take around 10 days to finish?

Muhammad Hasnain

That make sense as it's already been many chapters and wave arc is not finished yet
