Made it through!
Added 2022-09-30 23:40:04 +0000 UTCWe arrived home from our truncated trip Monday, and prepped for the storm on Tuesday.
Wednesday the wind and rain started picking up in the evening, and Thursday was the main "storm day". Luckily, Ian was "only" a tropical storm by that time - still nothing to ignore, but less dangerous than a Cat 2 or 3 hurricane would have been. Lost power for only about 20 minutes; no damage to the house. All in all, we came out OK!
But here's the irony: had we continued with our trip (in the belief that there wasn't much we could do if a really damaging storm hit our property), we'd have been in Myrtle Beach SC staying with my younger brother and his wife. Guess where Hurricane-Once-Again Fuckface is making landfall again...
It's as if one way or another we were going to have to put up with the storm. At least coming home when we did, we "only" had to suffer a tropical storm rather than the Cat 1 hurricane that my bro is having to ride out tonight.
