Say "goodbye" to the beard (for now)

As I said in a recent Q & A video ...let me check: yes, it was the June video... I told you I'd be shaving off the beard when I returned to my job at Disney World. (It was still intact for the July video, because at that time Disney had indeed reopened, but my job hadn't been reinstated yet, so I decide to keep Da Beard a little bit longer.)

Well... I've been called back to work. The portrait/caricature stand in the Magic Kingdom resumes operation tomorrow (Monday 8/24); my shift will be 10 AM until 6 PM.

And the "mask mandate" is still in effect. by both Orange County (FL) order and Disney policy. So I'll have to wear the misbegotten thing for all 8 hours of my shift, except when I'm eating. And as I said back in June, I'm trying to minimize the discomfort of the mask by shaving off the beard.

So i'm posting this pic as "one last look" at the face-fur. But I will tell you this: As soon as I can grow back the beard - whether it's when the lockdown is finally lifted and everything returns to normal, or I get so irritated with having to work under the lockdown conditions that I just say "screw this, I'm retiring!" - I will be growing it back!

The mustache will stay - for now, at least. (And I'll save the "first look" at the beardless face for the August video.)

And I should add this: since I'm not dependent on my employer for health insurance and my Social Security pays a good bit of what I'd have made working full-time, I asked my scheduling supervisor to take care of the employees who do depend on full-time hours, and I'll work whatever's left. (With Disney World operating under drastically reduced hours, there aren't as many shifts to fill as there were pre-lockdown.) So I work tomorrow, and the following Sunday. Which means I still have five days this coming week to do my "real" work!

Good bye, beard. We will miss you so.

I feels ya. I have to periodically cut the face fur (tomorrow) only for it to grow back with a vengeance in a week and a half....
