What I've been doing with my time

Why do I do this to myself? As many projects as I already have going on - projects which have eager fans awaiting new developments - I shouldn't be coming up with even more stuff to spend my time on! And yet, ...oops, I did it again...

Last week the idea hit me: an animated adaptation of the two-page "sample comic" starring Dyna the Damsel Dynamo. (Page 1 here; here's Page 2) A short confrontation between our heroine and the ancient Atlantean sorcerer Mezaros!

The idea appealed to me because, unlike my other animated projects, this one would be "short 'n' sweet". "Tetsuko vs. the Walls" and the posing video (which I still haven't decided between "Tetsuko, Queen of Biceps" and "Tetsuko, Queen of Muscle" as a title) both look to be rather long (between ten and twenty minutes) and involved; "Dyna vs. Mezaros" is less than two minutes in length.

I've already produced an animatic (basically, the storyboards shot on video with approximate timing for each shot and scene); it times out about 1:38.

An animatic is also a good way of organizing the animation; once a shot is completed, it replaces its corresponding storyboard(s) in the animatic, and finally there's a complete animated adventure.

I've attached two versions of the animatic below. Version 1 (v1) is the raw storyboards (simple pencil sketches, very hastily drawn in most cases), with on-screen caption to indicate when dialogue happens); version 2 has two early boards replaced with (tentatively) finished animation*; I hope you'll get an idea what the finished cartoon will look like. (No audio yet.)

* I might have to extend the shot of Dyna looking down at the island on which her "fight to the finish" with Mezaros will happen.
