I'm always torn between loving the sight of Tetsuko breaking chains by simply flexing her amazing muscles - and hating the drudge work of actually drawing the chains!
But I think sometimes that chain-breaking like this is a more effective way of showing Tetsuko's stupendous strength than simply lifting heavy stuff because of the scale involved: a weight heavy enough to show off her might has to be huge in order to look heavy (or else you have to explain that the baseball-size sphere she's picking up is made out of collapsed star material (like neutronium) and weighs 30 tons. And even then, something the size of a baseball just doesn't look heavy...) So that's most likely why there are more pics of Tetsuko breaking chains than lifting weighty things.
Oh, and if you want to see what her muscles look like without those chains blocking your view, here ya go:

The "mushroom cloud" effect came about one night as I was sketching the pose that would eventually become this pic; the idea of drawing "nuclear explosions" coming off her biceps just came to me, and I liked the effect enough that I decided to incorporate it into this image. Harkens back a little to the old Popeye cartoons in which, after he eats his spinach, he flexes his biceps in which appear images of bombs or military tanks, or some other image which suggests incredible strength.
