Chapter no.320 A lost girl

[ POV Change ]
It's a curious concept, the moment everything falls apart.
Oftentimes, when a person is prompted to imagine their collapse, their mind goes to catastrophic places. They see their loved ones passing, or their home ablaze, or the airless wreckage of an accident as they desperately try to claw their way to freedom. So easily, we view the foundations of our lives as strong and supporting, only felled by the most vicious and foul of circumstance.
Real life, of course, is a little less exciting than that.
Real life reminds one that no—it is not always dynamite tumbling down the strong and stable wood of their heart's home. Sometimes, a screw comes loose. Sometimes, a crucial beam breaks and sends the whole thing cascading.

Jessie stood nervously in front of the large orphanage, clutching a small suitcase in her hand. She had lived at the orphanage her entire life and was about to embark on a new journey as she had been adopted by a kind couple.
As she waited for her new parents to arrive, she couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and fear. She had always dreamed of having a family of her own, but she also felt sad to leave the only home she had ever known.
Just then, a car pulled up in front of the orphanage and a couple stepped out. They smiled warmly at Jessie and walked over to her.
"Hello, Jessie. We're your new parents," the woman said, extending her hand. "We're so happy to finally meet you."
Jessie hesitantly took the woman's hand and shook it, her heart racing with anticipation.
"It's nice to meet you too," Jessie said, trying to sound confident.
"We have a lot planned for today," the man said. "We want to take you to your new home and introduce you to your new siblings. And of course, we'll do our best to make you feel comfortable and at home."
Jessie nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude and happiness. She couldn't wait to start her new life with her new family.
"Thank you for adopting me," Jessie said, smiling for the first time in a long while.
"No, thank you for giving us the opportunity to be your parents," the woman said, returning the smile.
With that, Jessie took a deep breath and stepped into her new future, excited for all the possibilities that lay ahead.
Jessie had a happy life with her new parents and siblings. She quickly settled into her new home and enjoyed spending time with her new family. She went to school and made friends, and her parents were always there to support her and help her grow. They took her on vacations and spoilt her with gifts, and Jessie felt loved and cared for. However, despite their best efforts, Jessie's parents eventually went bankrupt and were forced to sell their home and downsize. This was a difficult time for Jessie and her family, but they remained strong and continued to support each other.
Soon the family moved to a small urban village at the base of Mount Silver, they months that came after were filled with nothing but hardships as the family was forced to eat snow to keep themselves feed.
But to Jessie the snow meal was one of the most happiest moments in her life as she felt the warmth of a family in the cold.
.....
Jessie was going through a box of old things in the attic when she stumbled upon a letter that caught her eye. It was addressed to her, but it wasn't from her adoptive parents. It was from her birth mother.
Jessie's heart began to race as she carefully opened the letter and began to read. It contained details about her birth mother's life and why she had made the difficult decision to give Jessie up for adoption.
As Jessie read the letter, she felt a mix of emotions wash over her. She was overwhelmed by the realization that her birth mother had thought about her and missed her all these years. But she also felt angry and betrayed that her adoptive parents had kept this letter from her all these years.
Tears streamed down Jessie's face as she tried to process the information in the letter. She felt confused and hurt, and she didn't know how to handle the situation.
After a while, Jessie managed to compose herself and decided to confront her adoptive parents about the letter. She marched downstairs and confronted them, demanding to know why they had kept the letter from her.
Her adoptive parents were shocked and saddened by Jessie's reaction. They explained that they had only wanted to protect her and didn't want to upset her with information about her birth mother.
But Jessie was inconsolable. She felt like her entire world had been turned upside down and she didn't know how to move forward. She eventually had a mental breakdown as her parents tried to reach out to help only for them to get rejected by the hand of an angry child who had her world shaken to her core.
Soon Jessie's behavior started to change from a loving and caring child to a jaded and cynical child who viewed the world in an extremely negative light.
The once beloved snow meals turned into one of hatred.
Jessie sat at the dinner table, staring sullenly at the plate of food stamp meal in front of her. It was the same meal her adoptive parents had made for her every night for the past year.
"Is something wrong, Jessie?" her adoptive mother asked, noticing Jessie's sour expression.
"This food is disgusting," Jessie said, pushing the plate away. "My real parents would never make me eat this."
Her adoptive parents exchanged a look of frustration and hurt. They had always done their best to provide for Jessie and give her a loving home, and it hurt them to hear her speak about her birth parents in such a way.
"Jessie, your real parents gave you up for adoption," her adoptive father said sternly. "We are your real parents now, and we work hard to provide for you. You should be grateful for what we give you, not complain about it."
"But my birth parents were rich and successful," Jessie said, her voice rising. "They could afford to give me anything I wanted. You can't even afford to give me a decent meal."
"Jessie, that's enough," her adoptive mother said, her voice firm. "Your birth parents may have had more money, but they didn't have the love and dedication that we have for you. You are lucky to have us as your parents, and you need to start showing some gratitude and respect."
" Love?" Jessie sneered. "If you loved me, you wouldn't have adopted me in the first place. You should have thrown me back to the orphanage and maybe my real mother would have come back for me."
Her father's face turned red with anger at Jessie's words. "How dare you say something like that? We are your real parents and we have always loved and cared for you. We may not be perfect, but we have done everything we can to give you a good life. You need to show some gratitude and respect."
" Respect ? What respect should I give to someone who makes their children eat dirt and snow ?"
Jessie's words cut deep to her adoptive mother who had tears built up in her eyes while it seemed that Jessie's words were the breaking point for her father.
" Oh ! Then there's the door right there, you can just walk away from the home and find your oh so loving real family there !"
" Fine, I think I will !" Jessie stood up and left the home with slam.
" Theodore, what are you doing ? Get her, she will catch a cold out there." Martha exclaimed with tears in her eyes as Theodore's expression lightened before he stood up and ran towards the door.
The duo thought that Jessie was just near them as they tried to look for her all night in the freezing show but Jessie had seemingly disappeared from the face of Earth never to be seen or heard from again leaving behind a sobbing family that truly loved and missed her.

[ Jessie's room ]
Jessie sat in the middle of the chaotic mess she had created. She had thrown books off the shelves, knocked over lamps, and shattered a vase in her fit of rage. She breathed heavily, trying to calm herself down as she looked around at the destruction she had caused.
Tears streamed down her face as she remembered the words written on that damned letter.
She couldn't believe what she had done. She had always prided herself on being in control, but this situation had spiraled out of her hands. She felt overwhelmed and ashamed of her behavior.
Jessie knew she needed to clean up the mess she had made, but she didn't have the energy to do it right now. She sat in the midst of the chaos, feeling lost and alone as she glanced at the envelope that showed off a picture of a woman that looked exactly like Jessie. No words needed to be said as she knew that they was her mother, on her mother's picture where the words written in red.
" If you want to find your mother, come find me at 0001 Cemetery Lane."

[ Omake Paragraph ]
Although many pokemon are said to control the weather, most of them, such as Groudon or Kyogre, belong as much to myth as fact. It is not uncommon for a pokemon to create weather conditions through techniques like Rain Dance or Sunny Day, but these conditions are typically short-lived and highly localized. And then there is Dragonair.
For all the Weather Institute's research into machines and Castform, they could not exceed the weather control machine which existed naturally in the form of a pokemon. The crystals of Dragonair give it a remarkable control of the weather not just in its immediate vicinity, but stretching out for over a mile. Fiercely temperamental, enormously shy and vain, in the wild they brought drought to crops or answered prayers for rain, perhaps giving an origin to many religious customs. They have at times been used for warfare in recent years, for a Dragonair battalion can dampen any rocks or flames, or simply flood away the enemy's food supply. Had they been tamed in an earlier, more warlike age, one fears to think of the devastation they could have wrought.
Today, peace has come to Kanto and Johto, and Dragonair are used to keep the weather pleasant. If it rains too much they bring sunlight, if there's drought they bring rain, and they have largely ended the days of blazing summers, endless storms, and freezing winters. It is a rare weather pattern which a group of Dragonair can not vanquish, and these severe conditions are said to come from the gods themselves; perhaps they truly do, for no other explanation is forthcoming.
If one wishes to understand what life was like before Dragonair, they need only venture to Hoenn, where these pokemon are seldom found and the roads filled with endless rain or sand.
