TEASER: Scenes From a Casual Dining Restaurant

I was starting to find the epilogue to Nightmare Pigs tougher to crack than imagined, so I switched over to another commission project that is both overdue and well longer than originally planned. Here's part of the next part of "Scenes From a Casual Dining Restaurant".

Since I was doing this purely to get stuff down on the page, this is literally just dialogue with no description or even character names put in. For the most part, I think it was pretty clear to me at least who was saying what, but I'm curious if it's clear to people who have been reading the story.

Anyway, I think it's kinda fun dialogue with nothing else added. I'm going to go back and add a lot more obviously, but I thought this was at least fun enough to share as a tease.

“Ya know. You’ve really put on weight?”

“Have I now?”

“Oh yeah, no offense, but you’re becoming a real fatty.”

“Excuse me. But I don’t think you’re one to talk.”

“What are you getting at?”

“I think it’s perfectly obvious to both of us that you’ve also put on quite a bit of weight.”

“You think so?”

“It’s very clear to me. I would guess just by looking at you, that you’re officially fat as well.”

“As well.”

“Well, err, you’re certainly fat.”

“But so are you. You admit it. As well. That’s what YOU said. So you admit to being a fatty.”

“I ummm… I haven’t weighed myself in a while.”

“Doesn’t matter. You can see it. You can feel it. You know it. I know it. You’re a fatty.”

“Maybe… maybe I am.”

“Come on admit it.”

“I… I’m… I- I don’t want to.”

“Oh come on. You can do it. Tell the truth.”

“I… I’m fat.”

“Not just that. Say it.”

“Say what?”

“Say you’re a fatty.”

“You’re a fatty.”

“Good one. And yeah. I guess I am. I am a fatty. Look at all this. A big fat fatty, that’s me.”

“Now it’s your turn.”

“I already said I’m fat.”

“But say you’re a fatty. Trust me. It’s very liberating.”

“I… I’m a fatty.”

“Louder. Own it.”

“I’m a fatty!”

“There ya go. Feels good. Doesn’t it?”

“Yeah… I guess it does. At least a little bit.”

“Good.”

“I… I think being a fatty suits you.”

“You do?”

“Yeah. You look… good.”

“Thanks. So do you.”

“You really think so?”

“Oh yeah. You make a great fatty.”

“That’s very kind of you.”

“You like it. Don’t you?”

“Like what?”

“Being a fatty.”

“Maybe I do.”

“Than say it.”

“I like being a fatty.”

“I like being a fatty too.”

“Well, that’s something we finally have in common now, isn’t it?”

“I suppose it is, after all this time.

“I suppose given more time, we could probably find a lot more in common.”

“Perhaps we could.”

“But what about right now?”

“Right now, I think we should order some dessert.”

“I think you’re right.”
