They seem to think that no one uses microwaves anymore? And it’s def bc of goofy pseudo science

The discussion of microwave ovens is absolutely deranged lol a fad like George Foreman grills?

RIP RICHARD ROUNDTREE Shaft In Heaven

Fred Skull

I’m here exclusively for the dog opinions

Man I feel Gabrus’ knowledge of history coming from video games thing. Was recently on a private tour of the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City and my guide was shocked by how much I knew about the different cultures and buildings (compared to the average American). Was ashamed to admit it came entirely from playing as all the mesoamerican leaders in all the Civilization games. And of course knowing about the Olmecs from The Simpsons.

Moira's Machine

The 3 Body Problem has been on my tbr list for a while. Thanks Gabrus for giving me the final push to read it by Shadow Wolves.

Kerouac

Dear ActionBoyz: PLZ do this to Stanger for the next $10 tier video https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx5qO90gNwY-jhfhghh51H29xP9m1BZkB0?si=SSs4q4EoNA-VvRFZ

Michael

If you are looking to quickly defrost stock or blanche potatoes and carrots, a microwave is clutch.

Irvin

I melted like a book in a sauna hearing about Stanger recognizing a porn star in the movie

Frosty peaches

We used to go to Santa Barbara a lot and the beach at Bacara has lots of tar. They always suggest removing it with baby oil….works pretty well. They also sell disposable tar removal wipes online but you need to go through a truckload of them to be effective. Just bring a big bottle of baby oil and a bag of cotton rags from home depot. Definitely throw out the rags after using. They will permanently fuck up your washer.

Pod Ween Satan

I've lived on a sailboat for 13 years without a microwave and haven't missed it once.

Sneakaboard

Delighted to hear Gabrus learned most of his history from Age of Empires. I thought I was the only one. (Gabrus if you haven’t played it the updated remake of AOE is really good)

Justin Paul Strong

Last time I was in Seattle I saw some guy next to south lake union park with some Australian Shepards and one was swimming around herding ducks in the water

BuffaloDave

Cool we just really needed the counter space in the kitchen

Megan

Rest in Peace Paulie (cum-bot voice)

Of_Mice&Ben

Sounds like big stove propaganda to me. Nice try Scott, or should I say, Mr General Electric!

Alfred Olsen

Gonna have to disagree with you on that. I enjoyed the entire trilogy. The scope of time and space it imagines is greater than anything I’ve ever read

CokeHawk

Did anyone else notice that the killer is played by Shelly Desai, AKA Hwang, Frank and Charlie's slumlord in Always Sunny?

Scott Blacula

Buffalo native here and always enjoy Rodgers’ hometown references. The Buffalo Museum of Science got a lot better in recent years but he was 100% correct that the coin-circle-thing was the highlight of that joint in the 80s and 90s. There is also a mummy whose nasty old mummy toe is sticking out of its wraps. Good times.

Ben Kirst

Its not about being anti-microwave. It is just that once you don't have one you realize you don't need it outside of like once a year fringe cases. I haven't owned a microwave in years. You realize heating up food in a stove top pan is better whether its left over chinese food or some thanksgiving leftovers or whatever. Toaster oven does the rest of the heavy lifting.

Scott Tammel

Don’t look now. The boys are on a roll!

Doug R

I love classic nyc movies. Crazy how a decent amount of Chinatown still looks the same. That Manhattan bridge/canal st/Bowery triangle still has the same jewelry stores.

Hammerthrust Von Sexron

Definitely. Gus is the most fun character in that series and that book is less for him being gone. McMurtry must have feel that too, since, if I remember right, the other two books were prequels and returned to the same tone, if not the quality, of Lonesome Dove. And I'm sure the ABZ readers already know this, but, a good pairing with the Lonesome Dove series is Peter Matthiessen's Shadow Country, a violent historical fiction, set in the Everglades at the beginning of the 20th century.

Michael Pemulis

Anyone playing starfield? There’s a robot you can encounter and an option to greet him is “bah weep graaaghnah wheep ni ni bong” the guy must be a shadow wolf.

Ben Murphy

I might need to type a rant similar to the pro-cell phone guy about microwaves. I didn't even know there were people out there who were anti-microwave, much less all 3 boyz!!

Alfred Olsen

I don’t think its a bad book but Caul was just too frustrating of a character for me to follow for that long without Gus there to temper him, and the way all the development with Newt is thrown away turned me off

Calvin

I'm fairly certain that you have to cancel AMC+ through your Amazon account. At least that is what I had to do.

william o'connor

My dislike for anti-vaxxers during covid made me reexamine all my pseudo-scientific beliefs. Microwaves are actually pretty good for us. No longer avoiding them.

itsyourcousinstjean

Tar month? In LA now? Great terrific news for visiting

Thomas

Got rid of my microwave earlier this year. Worth the counter space but now I drink a lot of cold coffee.

Megan

He had or still had a podcast he did with his assistant that was good.

Kornd Beef Party Freak

Soup and popcorn completely justifies a microwave purchase

Letron Carl

Same here but only lasted 30min before realizing really should just watch the damn thing…most fun I’ve had watching an ABZ movie for the first time since who knows…(maybe Ninja Terminator or Silent Rage)

Joe B

Rodger, I hate how much you recommended I watch this at the top on the show that I had to stop the podcast before you started going through it. Now I have to get home later, and actually watch the damn thing. Sonny Chiba’s Doberman Cop will have to wait another day to be watched.

Don Knott Steiner

“Baby oil” is mineral oil with gross scents added to it. It’ll work, but you’ll smell like a diaper. “Mineral oil” is good for seasoning your cutting boards. Let it sit overnight and wipe it down before you eat anything off it.

Slurp

Frank McCourt coming up a few seconds after talking about Hasan lying about his life quite the coincidence. https://youtu.be/-Mb8Mb0p808?si=MaeSWN-e6Xcwmy4Y

Bring me the Head of Warren Oates

This movie is on YouTube! At least it is here in Europe.

Letron Carl

There are natural oil seeps off the coast that sometimes just seep a bit more than usual. There are faux environmental groups that are really oil companies arguing that there needs to be more offshore oil drilling to stop the natural oil seeps.

The new hot broadway musical “Winged,” staring Adele Dazeem

John

“Seka!” 🤣

Paul

i'm having trouble understanding how tar gets around like how big and where why how etc

bloodflart

cool name dude.

bloodflart

gangbang gang

bloodflart

Baby oil is the hack for getting tar off your feet, and is safe for dogs too! Put it on a rag or paper towel, and you can rub it off. But it just turns into like crude oil, so do it outside/have lots of rags available.

Josh Briggs

“Kind of flies in the face of Joan Osbourne” really got me

Mark F

And another weird Moriarty role!

Adam Ross

It is strangely heartening to hear the actionboyz give credence to the importance of lunch for those with physical jobs. I mean, the ball busting is fine too... Always enjoyed that,

Ant

Streets of Laredo is the Duane's Depressed of the Lonesome Dove series. More somber, in tone, and a pared down story. I remember liking it though.

Michael Pemulis

Reading Babel, or the Necessity of Violence by R.F. Kuang and I’m enjoying.

Jared Blackman

"Ed Greenwood wrote Elminster: The Making of a Mage as a hardcover novel in just 16 days" Ed Greenwood vs Larry Cohen race to see who can finish a novel/feature faster

Eugenio Triana

Maybe it's his way of saying he wants a divorce

Emily P

The prequels to lonesome dove are definitely worth the read, cant say the same about streets of Laredo

Calvin

I’m team Microwave!!!!

John McClane

I totally remember that Buffalo Science Museum basement. That coin thing was mesmerizing. We keep a family membership. But I haven’t been in the basement in a long time. I’ll have to check it out.

Adam

its just called "Film Director's Commentary"

RowBoat Cop

Larry Cohen also wrote and directed THE STUFF, another movie with 4 or 5 plot lines wrapped up in one story. Feels like someone should give Larry an 8-episode streaming miniseries to let him properly tell a story, rather than trying to cram it all into a 90 minute movie.

scottythered

In elementary school this kid Kevin’s mom would be bring him a fresh 20pc nugget meal from McDonalds at least once a week at lunch and wouldn’t share with anybody. Finally some kids lost it and tried to grab some and nuggets went flying all over and it was a free for all of kids eating nuggets off the grass. Pretty sure Kevin cried.

Clifford

Age of empires 2 + smashed Pennies has me feeling seen this week

I feel like Gabrus can't stop thinking about Slim Goodbody.

Bill Burr with Ron Howard’s eyes!

Morgan Currie

I think Stanger probably smokes his, I know he has one of those big green eggs.

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

it's too hot in summer here to turn on the oven, toaster oven is awesome though. I didn't have a microwave until I got one as a gift, only use it for like soup and popcorn

bloodflart

yeah how does Stanger heat up all those hotpockets he eats

bloodflart

Look at that StangerBot over there: he's down on his knees. We love it!

Adam Lewis

I accidentally watched next week’s movie in preparation for this episode. I truly am Stanger aside from not having a family or a career or looks or talent.

Donatello’s Big Dong

It's the only way we'll learn.

Adam Lewis

Oh gosh how embarrassing

Clarence Thomas wants to overturn Loving v Virginia. The court case that set precedent allowing interracial marriage. He is married to a super-karen

Chabnormal

I have always appreciated Rollins’ aggro earnestness. It’s not so much that he’s mellowed out. More like he’s contained himself without losing the edge

Joe B

All right, brace yourselves for gun chat. The sub-machine gun that most of the cops use at the end isn't an H&K MP5 like Gabrus suggested, it's a Smith & Wesson 76. It was also used by Chuck Heston in The Omega Man and by the robbers in The Taking of Pelham 123. I'm so sorry. Why did I post thi

Antti

I worked on the David Carradine movie Stanger appeared in on Cape Cod. I have no good stories other than to say him, Rip Torn, and Richard Dreyfus was a weird casting combo with cursed energy

Movie Donkey

Yeah but Three Body Problem rules

Movie Donkey

I saw a documentary or something where he talks about his life, what an interesting dude. Just works out and listens to music and doesn't fuck with anybody

bloodflart

I've started listening to Henry Rollins' weekly KCRW show lately. It's great! I expected it to be much heavier on him telling stories, but it's just wall-to-wall music he likes with the occasional short bit if he knows one of the musicians, or shoutouts to record stores where he bought something. It's the first radio thing I've listened to every week in like 15 years, feels very nostalgic.

Dark Angel Of The Year

The movie is available for free on Tubi, complete with director’s commentary. Couldn’t find it on Squibs!

Morgan Currie

“I Love Val Verde! (We love it!)”

ValleyGeist

Saying the window washer’s head “floated away like a balloon” then “cutting” to the balloon flying away was priceless!!!!

Paul Perez

I must be behind the times. I couldn't imagine Preheating an oven for a hotpocket instead of using the microwave. How much are these guys utility bills?

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

Hi! Three Body Problem sucks! See ya later!

Phil Landry

the knockoff Gushers are called Spurters. Or Gooshers

Chabnormal

Check out the doc on the director. King Cohen: The Wild World Of Filmmaker Larry Cohen (2017). It's great. He was a big deal in blacksploitation movies, too.

The Buffmaster

This movie messed me up as a kid in the 80s. Still look up when I'm on a rooftop.

Keith Jarrett

This movie sounds awesome. Thanks for the rec, HBZ

Hammerthrust Von Sexron

What's the Spotify channel with the director's commentary?

Big Junior

I can't believe it took me this long to find out Bill Burr starred in a Dalton Wilcox biopic. Thanks Action boyz!
