Hell yeah

Will See

Make my day! Shut the fuck up!! That was hilarious 😂

Chris Mendoza

The Nazi soccer team is full of Nazis. Who'd have thought.

Chabnormal

Must have been a pretty good kick. Ever played football?

Slurp

Parking lot story is the realest shit

Wadi

This doggone episode is skullfucking good!

Zack Mack

That really sucks

Terry Turdle

Lmfao, Dustin, I landed kinda late on a Sunday and got McDonald’s. Was given the wrong order and the old lady it was for was so pissed at me.

DJCrabhat

I was so confused when Stanger started talking about "Airjuan" lol. One time I was walking with my infant in a baby bjorn and a dude in a newish Camero nearly hit me while I was WAITING to cross the street, so I kicked his rear bumper (again, I'm still on the sidewalk). He gets out and storms up to me, a man with an infant on his chest, and SHOVED me! I nearly killed that fucker.

Steve!

Can verify the clip, +2 for puffy jackets

Slurp

We used it in scouts in the US

Steve!

I remember hearing that Stallone demanded that he score the winning goal, but all of the soccer players on set said that just doesn't happen. And then I saw Liverpool's Alisson (keeper) pull this off (which really doesn't happen) https://youtu.be/CFXkwCtEzDQ?si=uLbiop7kvCzrCtUk

In Spain I ordered a sandwich and was given a bowl of soup. I assumed I fucked up and just started eating the soup without saying anything. Then the waiter brought me my sandwich and realized I was eating the soup meant for some old man next to me. Everyone seemed pretty pissed that I didn't say anything. Also, it was the worst soup I've ever eaten.

Dustin

I have it as a cable tv add-on (and watch though the Rogers Ignite App when I want it on a phone/tablet) but I think you can subscribe and watch with Prime. The current selection of movies listed here… https://hollywoodsuite.ca/movies-on-demand/

Jesse Crap

Gold medal ep 🏅

john b

Airs? It’s a cable tv add on, not an app?

Hammerthrust Von Sexron

Sounds like a tale sung by a lute player in a bad British movie.

Hammerthrust Von Sexron

And that Aussie kid Gabrus watched soccer with: FilmFan.

Adam Lane

Sometimes I wonder how they put up with us.

Adam Lewis

During my first visit to Switzerland I ordered toast and got a grilled cheese with bacon.

Adam Lewis

My grandpa was a concentration camp survivor as well as a partisan. He actually escaped from camps and jumped from trains. Was also a huge soccer fan. He never mentioned this movie, ever.

Hammerthrust Von Sexron

I’m canceling my subscription now that I know Gabrus and Stanger haven't seen The Grand Illusion

G

Listening to this chunk about traveling and experiencing new places while eating dinner in Zurich. I thought I ordered a salad but it was just a plate of different meats.

DJCrabhat

Hahaha…follow up. Wife: Is that that 2hr podcast you listen to? Me: This week it’s 3hrs Wife: Jesus christ. (Scrunches face in disgust and turns away).

Pod Ween Satan

Hard to beat Melville’s Army of Shadows.

Pod Ween Satan

Laugh out loud moment: “These Umbros are Irregular”. Trying to explain to my wife the joke that I just randomly burst out laughing from while sanding the wall….met with a disdainful shaking of the head. Abz for life.

Pod Ween Satan

Fun fact, my shitty hometown in Oregon let/approved The Proud Boys running the annual July 4th Parade. Fucking insane.

Clance Scranclenuts

I’ll always remember where I was; drinking tic tac with dr rock

TheDemonKane

Great, great movie. Many involved had been prisoners of the Nazis during the war.

Adam Lewis

The Dead, Huston’s last film, is pretty great

Brad Elmore

Man Who Would Be King could definitely be a ABZ movie. Fun flick with weird vibes all the way through

Adam Ross

Another banger French pow movie is A Man Escaped. Check it out. edit: just wanted to add that all Canadian listeners should subscribe to the Hollywood Suites channels. Victory is airing 3 times today. Another 15 ABz movies are currently ondemand as well as like 20 they will do. And they constantly update. Definitely worth the $5/month or whatever.

Jesse Crap

I really like the programing from Criterion Channel. There are also essays and film historian lectures. TCM use to be great, there was The Underground programing that should cult and forgotten gems. Then the host was fired along with other staff members. I still enjoy Noir Alley with Eddie Muller.

Perla X. Caballero

They also had a couple legendary English players which led to all the scenes of them practicing and game footage looking so good

Jake

John Huston might’ve been past his prime by ‘Victory’—though his final film ‘The Dead’ is one of his best—but six years earlier, he made the great Rudyard Kipling adaptation and adventure movie ‘The Man Who Would Be King’ with Michael Caine, Sean Connery, and Christopher Plummer

Frank Kimball

Great episode, love when the boyz get a little silly

Miles

I've been following soccer for a little over 15 years now and I gotta say that they fucking nailed it with the game.

Jake

Between Criterion and TMC what has the best movies? I mean, I'm pretty sure it's Criterion, but "thoughts?"

James Evers

Only in my face n stuff.

AFistfulofGwildors

my road is named Renoir and I'm in the south so nobody knows how to say it

bloodflart

“Berets have been around since, who knows?”

Fred Skull

Wow! That was awesome. thanks for the link👍

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

I just saw a video of the Irish crowd singing Zombie by The Cranberries and legitimately got chills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h32lWyHHmcs&ab_channel=BernardPierredePicardie%F0%9F%87%A8%F0%9F%87%B5

Scott Tammel

Actually would like to hear the boyz talk about shawshank. Always thought it was kind of…bad.

Brendan Crowley

My husband and I felt like gods after we managed to get back to our London airbnb via public trans after both our phones died during a long night at the pub (with toddler in tow). Can anyone share if the Boyz have recently discussed The Offer? I'm having trouble remembering if I'm thinking about a convo they had RE Leave the Gun, Take the Canoli or if they actually talked about the show.

Jean Renoir had an incredible run in the late 1930s -- Les bas-fonds (1936), La grande illusion (1937), La Marseillaise (1938), La bête humaine (1938), La règle du jeu / Rules of the Game (1939). All recommended FWIW. Then came the war. He could do it all -- crime stories, historical epics, war dramas, biting satire. Made some interesting stuff in America later on too.

Martin Degrell

Never been a huge fan of him, but Pele was an amazing ambassador for the sport, no doubt about that. A true superstar. And so much better than most during his heyday. But his peak came before the advent of modern (/total) football -- arguably 1974 or so -- with players like Cruyff and Beckenbauer. Earlier than that the quality of play was pretty dire. Like most sports I suppose. As for the film, which I've mostly known as "Victory" over the years (the original title according to the sauna), it's one of those weird sleepy matinee movies that the 70s were seemingly full of, with a long-ass cast list and a jokey premise. No Swedish football players among the cast but who cares when von Sydow holds it down.

Martin Degrell

I've never even HEARD of The Grand Illusion. . .and I'm a movie buff.

Sam Marshall

The Grand Illusion is streaming on Criterion Channel.

Perla X. Caballero

Boy Scouts started in England, too

MB

Couldn’t stop thinking of how Billy Wilder does everything better in Stalag 17.

JamieQT

Bill Conti is credited as the composer, but this score borrows so much from Dmitri Shostakovich that I have to believe it was written by James Horner.

David Bauer

"Unclogging_drains" on ig has close to 200k followers. Gabrus doesn't lie!

Christopher Davis

Like every movie, it needs more dead Nazis.

Adam Lewis

So... you guys like big butts?

James Evers

The Silence of the Lambs… a fine escape movie.

Steakmoss

1. Dick Butkus cut me in line for the bathroom in like 2011 2. I'm a huge soccer fan, have been for years, and as a kid i was aware enough of the top stars in europe like Beckham, zinedine zidane, steven gerrard, ronaldo nazario etc etc and I remember learning about Pele and being told how many goals he scored in his career and it blew my mind. 3. W/r/t numbers in soccer the 1-11 numbers are traditionally associated with specific starting positions and it always made me mad that my traveling team # was 38 and it ESPECIALLY pissed me off when our lineup didn't have enough players in the right number with regards to their positions. When ever i played center mid i was satisfied because at least "8" was a center mid number. Anyways, if our gk wanted to be #69 i'd prob go and yell at him that he had to be #1 and he'd prob end up hating me

MB

Top popery!

Bobby Nitro

Scouts honour was a phrase in the UK. But a very old one.

Keith Jarrett

The Wives Guys run was fucking hilarious.

Willie Simpson

I'm glad I live in a small town with nobody in the theaters every time I hear a horror story of these deplorables on pods. Is it worse in LA or just any big city?

bloodflart

Gabrus thought Dick Butkus was a running back, but he knows all about the Doozers from Fraggle Rock.

Sam Marshall

First time hearing about Expendables 4 was a headline saying how bad it bombed

bloodflart

While she's exploding on the fence?

bloodflart

"Uhh nice header there Alan Shearer 😏

MB

I watched Driven thinking it was this week’s movie

Horace Jallowman

Olestra caused more anal leakage than Charlie Sheen on the set of Lucas

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

It’s her getting raw dogged by Kyle Reese

Daniel_

Is the Sarah Connor statue in Val Verde of her holding the chain link fence and exploding?

bloodflart

I thought my RSS feed was broken. I was about to @ Gabrus about it on Twitter

Daniel_

I kicked a ball back to some kids at the park recently and the called me Messi cause it was so good.

FiddlersGreenDay

Does this movie feature the least evil Nazis in film history?

Joe

I haven't gotten to see any Ireland matches yet but I'll have to check out some highlights. I see you guys go up against Scotland October 7th. With the last name Cady I suppose it's mandatory viewing lol

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

Oh, thanks for the heads up. I always enjoy the episodes even if I didn't get to do the homework so I didn't worry about it to much. I'll have to keep that in mind for future ones though thanks again.

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

I generally don’t like rugby but since it looks like Ireland are on the way to winning and that’ll likely be the only World Cup we’ll win in any sport, it’s now all I care about.

Alan

Nice Andy Cole reference

Alan

The abz reddit does a good job of posting links when they're available. Usually its just to an internet archive stream of it so nothing high quality but it gets the job done

Mijo

I didn't get to see this movie over the weekend because I'm a cheap bastard. While I was digging around for it I did see Peacock has the Rugby World Cup though so I got to see the Welsh kick the shit out of Australia. I also saw Sylvester Stallone's Lock up is on Kanopy free.

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

Surely NavyDoc is behind the delay

Big Junior

Oh thank god. Thought we were looking down the barrel of mass custodial strikes today.

Jonas Martin

And….bust
