This is a giant, expensive, well-made movie directed by and staring the surprisingly talented scumbag, Mel Gibson. You could say that his infamous voicemails and Malibu arrest are characters in this film.
Did Jus Prima Noctis exist in Europe at the time this story takes place? No. Is it even necessary for the movie? No. Is this one of the most historically inaccurate movies of all time? Hell yes. Now if the Boyz are being tortured and killed for some bullshit they said and you’re in attendance - fucking do something! FREEEEEEDOM!!
