As far as I’m aware, he wasn’t re-imagined for any of the subsequent series, but does appear in the video games, both past and present. I initially couldn’t discern his specie by visual appearance alone, so I went with something more akin to a Californian ground squirrel. Incorrect, but I was never one for 1:1 accuracy. 😅
