Poking Around Pt 99

Ugh, this was a bit of a difficult page to not make a text-wall.
But yup, there we are. We’ll be back to the actual sumo and the more light-hearted stuff soon enough; Bo finally got mentioned after all.
As always, thank you to everyone for continuing to support this work. (forgot a TL note, my bad).
TL Notes
- Devil Supper-Nerd: A pun on Devil Summoner, a reference to this long-running game series. At the time of produing, after a 17-year-gap (excluding handheld titles, spin-offs and what-if games), a new title had been confirmed for a home console.
- FreeGeoCities: A spiritual more-primitive ancestor of website-hosting sites like Wordpress or Wix nowadays. Freegeo is the Japanese name of this one.
- Chattalot: This bird and this social media app.
- Armaldodon: An amalgamation of this dinosaur and this website.
- Ankoku-kun: 暗黒 darkness. 君 Kun is a familiar way to refer to a male (if they're younger than you or they're friends with you). I almost wanted to do a hooded anonymous figure gathering ala the Organisation Thirteen, but I couldn't fit it in on an already crowded page.
- “Wanpanchi-Man”: Pretty obvious portmanteau of this doggo and this production that began life as a webcomic on Pixiv (a Japanese equivalent of Deivantart) and proved so popular, it was adapted as an anime and redrawn as a manga proper. ワン “Wan” is a dog barking. パンチ panchi is obviously a punch.
- “Tanik Mania”: Referring to this game, which was the brainchild of some notable fan-game programmers that SEGA contracted. One in fact ended up developing his own studio.
- “Mobbed Psyduck”: Combination of this one (also began life as a webcomic before being officially published and adapted as an anime) and this duck.
- “Mareannie’s Woes, Eh?”: Referring to this … sea anemone (?) and this entry. Interestingly, I remember reading somewhere that the author drew her thanks to Western fans for supporting her manga. I can’t confirm this for myself though.
- “South Korean Jobs”: Referring to this one and this one, which started out as fan-supported manhwa/webtoons (Korean webcomics).
- #PharamacistMajor: This made me laugh. The character is this one whom I’m not a fan of at all.
- Birdie: Golfing term meaning you got the ball in the hole under par (under the expected number of strokes needed to do so)
- Grubbingo: A bit on the nose, but this bug and “bingo.”
