WIP Wednesday 23.05.03

Lots to cover!  It's been a week both productive and frustrating.  I'm getting stuff done, but except for the May Full Moon Pinup, I don't feel like I'm getting a lot of momentum.  I've not had the longer blocks on the weekends that I use to really make headway on commissions, which probably isn't helping.  But here's where we're at:

I worked out the armor design for my pinup commission.  As I mentioned last week, the client encouraged me to share work in progress images so you're getting a look at the whole thing.  Note the sword design is not final--I misinterpreted the description so it needs some revision.  There's some fine detail that needs to be added to the chestplate, the gauntlets, the pauldrons and the helmet, and once I get that and the sword finalized, it's be back to the client for final approval before inks and colors.

CM2305 is a four panel comic.  I've taken two passes at the layout and want to do one more in pencil to shore it up before moving on to inks and so on.  This one is inspired by a very obscure Jack Kirby comic and has been fun to do.

CM2306 is a six stage Hulkout.  I won't give away more than that but again I think it'll be a hit if I can pull it off.

Work also continues on the final version of CroMagna's Revenge.  I'm coloring the inside covers which are take from design art I drew for this when I first conceived it nearly five tears ago.  Notice the older school technique on the inks in this picture of Dana.  The other pencil image is one of the surprise extras I'm cooking up for this.

The last two images are some quick sketches I did in Sketchbook (formerly Autodesk Sketchbook).  One is a design for a possible future project, the other is a drawing of Lost Heroine Valoria.

Things will be tight the next couple of weeks.  I typically have been working half days from home at my day job on Friday so I could get some drawing in when I'd normally be commuting.  Then I'd get more work done in the afternoon while my wife is still at work.  The next two weeks I'm going to be working on site and this Friday I have an appointment that kills the afternoon.  My wife also usually works on Saturdays, but this Saturday she's off so that's another block of time gone. (On the plus side we'll get to enjoy Free Comic Book day together!)

Still, I will keep working on all of these as time allows.  At least the full moon piece is done!  See you back here next week and we'll see how I did!

Thanks as always for the interest,

SAS
