Full Res Weekend Pin-Up--Ariel
Added 2019-11-17 19:17:44 +0000 UTCSo between my falling down the Disney+ rabbit hole and a 30th anniversary milestone a few days ago, I decided to go with my favorite Disney Princess (yes, I have a favorite Disney Princess) for this weekend's pinup. The Little Mermaid was an epiphany to me when I saw it way back in 1989. It was the first time I was really aware that not all animation was equal, especially when you compared what was on TV at the time vs. the big screen version. It had a direct effect on how I drew female characters, especially the classic version of Janet Walker, who I was just starting to work with on a regular basis. It also cemented my fondness for cartoon redheads, while we're at it.
Still experimenting with hybrid styles for my art with this too.

Oh! I just remembered the wonderful surprise TF (surprise for me, at least; don't know how I didn't see it coming!) in BRAVE. Although that was neither the princess nor the villain, it was an incredible female-to-adorable/ferocious monster TF!

2019-11-18 01:47:30 +0000 UTCLet’s see—for the princesses in their films, no—except perhaps Frozen, as Elsa also had a magical clothing change and some would count Anna’s change into an ice sculpture as well. That was more the villain’s realm— Queen Grimmhilde, Maleficent, and Ursula, plus some age regression/progression from Tangled’s mother Gothel. The one other note would be that Jasmine turned into a rat in an episode of the Aladdin TV series.
