The shrine of the Severed Hand was built centuries ago around the stone hand that was found deep in the forest. No one knew how and why the hand had appeared there, but it was told that praying at the shrine would bring you a small fortune in your daily tasks. This turned out to be true, for the most part, but no one knew why – as the secret was buried deep. The source of the hand's power was a wishing stone that lay underground – and the hand protected its secret, as anyone who tried to dig was found dead, crushed by some magical force. The hand never seemed to move, so as time passed, people living nearby warned strangers not to disturb the hand during the prayers unless they wanted to throw their lives away.
